Back to the thread, I assume the covered walkway in front of the extension will go to allow direct access from the new gates to the apron. Will that mean the whole walkway being removed, or will the potential retained bit have access from the extension? If not I assume that will mean more bussing.

Part of the walkway ( the bit that is beyond the Eastern limit of the extension) will be retained and the rest removed. The plan is to then replace the remaining bit with a two storey pier with holding lounges as a future project (which will need planning approval so no doubt will take forever to do).

The pier can be built under permitted development rights without planning permission.

Funny how the article says "the plans have also been criticised by the Green Party", implying a second group. The founder member of the anti airport group also ran as a Green Party candidate for the council.
