Reminds of before I retired and frequently being told - ‘it’s ok I’ve spell checked it’. A quick scan of the work and my standard reply - ‘the words appear to be spelt correctly but some are the incorrect words and in the wrong order’. Things don’t get any better!
I once got an email from a client saying that she could not contact me for a while as they were on sh*t down the following week. So such for their company spell check

On a different note and I’m sure it’s been mentioned before but I’ve missed it…
What’s going on next to the Viking car park? Extending the parking?

They appear to be building up the banking next to the 14 loop. Please tell me this is the start of facilitating either a parallel taxi way or at least an additional taxi element closer to the mail road and tunnel to reduce backtracking times on the runway. At the moment only 2 aircraft can wait / use the loop.

Car park extension. Nothing exciting. It's all in the Development Plan.

Just reminds me of Morecambe and Wise with Andre "Preview" when Eric says "I am playing all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order"

Presumably if the people that really mattered - eg airline bosses, potential passengers etc - had a strong opinion on the cladding and external appearance of the building, the airport would have gone for a more premium product.
This was designed in 2017 when less cash was available. Changing the exterior significantly would have needed planning approval and it's easy to see why LBA management wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere near the plans panel.

The new terminal was a whole different story with a modern light and airy design, but look what happened to that.

At least the interior should be fit for purpose and make a huge difference.

I mean a terminal is a terminal. I think we've all come to live with the fact we get cheap tacky cladded buildings in the UK now a days. No one actually cares about aesthetics anymore.

And like @White Heather pointed out - the new terminal would have been fantastic but look what happened. I think even if LBA adopted the Japanese method of putting battery charging mechanisms under the flooring so that when people walk they activate pressure pad, which in turn charges a battery, the psychopaths at GALBA would still of said its not environmentally friendly. Deranged morons.

Flow from hundreds of airports around the world and to be honest I can hardly remember what any of them look like from the outside apart from Dubai and Mumbai for totally different reasons!
What I do remember is the airports which have poor facilities inside - most US airports for instance especially when flying internally!
I’m sure the same will go for most LBA passengers- they won’t be standing and staring at the building when they are trying to get inside as quickly as possible loaded up with luggage.

What will be important is what they encounter inside which will hopefully be far better then what went before especially after the refit of the old terminal…..

I mean I flew through MCO last year - the arrival terminal that VS use ... wow stepping back into the 80's with no refurb but functional.

MCO-LGA, JetBlue used the new terminal and again no impressions on the outside of the terminal but wow inside was amazing. It's all about the passenger experience.

As I've also said the UK is used to crap buildings.

As I expected and predicted, phase 2 of the LBA ReGen project has been awarded to Farrans Construction, the current contractor for phase 1 . Obviously won by tender but absolutely makes sense given the complexities that would occur with two main contractors on site during the forthcoming overlap between completion of phase 1 and commencement of phase 2. Using Farrans means a seamless transition.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
