Can someone please advise how I go about attaching a photo file as displaying that I have reached my maximum number of attachments? Thanks
Subscription choices are available to see in the help section which you can find at the base of the site, or you can go to your attachments through your Profile and edit/delete previous attachments. Alternatively you can use the forums preferred way of displaying photos through the media gallery where you almost certainly still have an allowance. Whichever way you go with, please consider resizing your images before uploading them as this will increase the number of photos you can upload.
 
Referring back to the plans the pier is almost half the length of the main building.
Like we mentioned it does appear to be the width of 3 vertical steels and 3 levels high although air side it will be 2 levels high due to the banking.
This whole build looks like a new terminal in itself and makes the airport look very much bigger. When the pier is constructed it certainly will look impressive.

I forget who mentioned it but apparently the peir can be extended without planning permission. Something I hope they can do sooner rather than later.
 
If they can extend the pier in the future it will give a big airport feel as well as obviously a better experience for pax.
If they ever build the brand new terminal the plan is to link this pier all the way to the new terminal as well as build another pier to the runway side of the new building to form an enclosed square main apron. The building going up now will be retained and probably repurposed, with the original terminal area demolished. That's all beyond 2030 though, if ever, given the furore that will kick off when a planning application is lodged.

In addition, if what's happening now takes LBA to 7m passengers by 2030 as intended, it's hard to see them building a new terminal and half a mile of piers unless they intend expanding further, so I think any new terminal would be bigger than last time, with greater capacity - otherwise it's barely worthwhile financially. 9m pax per year should be doable similar to Bristol. However, I can just imagine the dithering within the Council Planning Department and likely as not, capitulation to tree huggers , NIMBYs and climate activists , aided and abetted by a variety of politicians.

Unfortunately, a pier would require full planning consent. However, it is much less likely to be resisted than a new terminal.

If I were the project manager, I would first extend the pier from the current terminal extension to the proposed location for a new terminal (near stand 19, I think). Then, when viable, I would submit another full planning application for the new terminal at a later date.

I wouldn't submit a planning application for everything in one go. I would phase it over a long period.

I would agree. The pier (it could be argued) is about improving efficiency and the customer experience so less contentious than a terminal that will always be seen as encouraging further growth - even if it wasn't intended that way. However, the reality is that a pier with holding lounges at each gate WILL improve efficiency and enhance terminal capacity so will lead to some growth.

Currently sat in departures, A3 flyer on time, just £2 (saves paying £30 in a taxi) busy terminal but still through security in roughly 5 to 10mins, bizarrely my shoes were the guilty party as the scanners were picking something up on them so they went off for further examination hahaView attachment 31186View attachment 31187

Ive seen those, they or something similar should be at various locations within the terminal where they cant be missed.
 
I drove past today. It looks impressive and makes the airport have a much bigger feel. The pier albeit on the small side looks to be progressing now, and is probably almost at full length now. I noticed some new cladding today which matched and was in keeping with the existing building. The designs suggested the rendering would vary slightly from the main terminal. A new LBA sign would look great on the building adjacent to the approach road.
 
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.

For me, the regeneration and expansion of Leeds Bradford Airport is one of the most exciting developments in the country.

Despite being a smallish airport, these investments will be a massive win for the city of Leeds and the whole of Yorkshire.

It's high time this region had a more modern and competitive airport.

I will keep an eye on this thread for sure!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
