Looking good….I presume it is relatively easy to add the same again if they want to expand even further?
Just wondering that myself. On one plan, I forget which version it was, there appeared to be room for further extension but was that just additional room for vehicle access of baggage trains from airside to baggage reclaim under the current scheme.
If it was on the original application that was approved by LCC is further planning permission required if the airport is to use that land for a full three storey extension ?

Anyone got any updated pictures of the development? I drove past last Friday and a decent amount of cladding appeared to be present along with roofing going on.

I know it's not finished but goodness that's ugly. Definitely function over form.
True but much like every other UK airport terminal. The Manchester Transformational Project isn't any better, just much bigger.

It might look silly if it looked too different from the rendering of the rest of the terminal.

I would rather it be ugly and work than pretty and useless.
Frankly with only the end wall actually clad, and the main wall which has windows not even started, it's a bit early to be judging anything. However, remember this scheme is as planned in 2018. Significant external changes would have had to go back to the Plans Panel. Not a good idea.

It's a terminal. I've yet to see a terminal in the UK that is anything other than function over beauty, but from what I've seen it will look better when the main elevation and crucially, landscaping is completed. A few trees and shrubs can break up the endless grey cladding.

They have only clad the end of it, there not going to clad the whole terminal extension in that light grey colour, if you look at the artist impressions of the finished terminal the full length of the extension is broken up with what appears to be a tinted glass full length window section, and the bottom section (roughly ground level) is full length in a darker colour, a nice touch i feel breaking up the grey/silver, Plus the right side of the extension has that colourful graphic/logo on it (still believe it should be replaced with the words "leeds bradford airport" on it though.)
The light grey/silver coloured used is ideal to give it a more welcoming feel rather than a dark overpowering feel.
So when you look at the overall extention its certainly not going to be one great big grey lump, its nicely balanced out and broken up, abit like a wall border or rail inside a house. I fully understand the design teams thinking

In fairness I'd say both Liverpool and Donny showed that it's possible to look good quality whilst still being a regional airport terminal. Even more so the more recent planned new terminal at LBA. Sadly this is clearly on a much lower budget.

I don't give 2 hoots what it looks like as long as it works. Look at Moscow, bloody awful! View attachment 31378

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
