A big step in the right direction. The new website is far better! My only bug is that the arrivals/departures history is not extensive enough, departure and arrival listings for a period of 2-3 hours is not really helpful.

Too early yet also to spot any "unknown" destinations or other errors.

My criticism of the arrivals/departures is that there should be a page/line break between the days, as I have just scrolled through to look at Easy Jet arrival times and got 3! as it is currently showing arrivals up to Sunday 13.20. So either a solid line to divide the days or a line with the actual date at the top of the start of the next day would help! Otherwise ok

Also noted that the departures does not show departures that have gone like it used to do. You could see what time a flight left LBA. I know for a fact several jets have gone this morning around 7am and nothing showing on the board? Why are they deleting them once they have departed?????

Can I add my 2 pence-worth to the departures board debate, for anyone meeting a flight it does you a rough idea what time it might land if you know what time it has departed. Ok some aircraft might be swapped at destination at odd ones might go tech but at least if you know its gone on time there's a fair chance it'll be back on time. I dont think anyones asking for yesterday's list but to keep a flight on for 2 or 3 hours after departure would be useful - more useful than departures 48hrs in advance!

I agree with what Micheal is saying. That's what I have been thinking as well. For instance, a member of my family recently travelled to Sharm el Sheik from LBA. On her return I checked to see what time her flight left LBA so I could send her a text message to say her flight left on time and so there shouldn't be any delay to her return flight.

Glad some people are on the same wave length! Any way UniYork, can you be sure its gone if it is not showing and there is no departure time to confirm it has left. As they say "if it aint written down it didnt happen"!

I would strongly suggest you e mail the airport asking for flights to remain on the system for a couple of hours after, as they used to do. They really do take notice and when I e mailed them they passed my comments through to the IT guys who came up with the web site and copied it to me. Try it and you never know, you might get the situation resolved. If they don't know you have a problem, they won't attempt to fix it!

I will probably be shot down for saying this.
I would have liked to have seen the departures/arrivals on a black background taking the space of a single line for each.
The big airports do this. The LBA layout takes up the space of 3 lines. This limits the ammount of flights shown.
The Black background single line type maybe old style but it works well. The DSA method looks more professional.
As LBA becomes busier, something will have give.It will take 3 pages to show what can be displayed on 1 page.

wawkrk, the arrivals board takes 3 pages because they are showing flights (currently) for today, tomorrow and Monday! Most days they show at least 2 days of flights and even when busy in the summer, there is enough space for 1 full day and most of the following day. What is the point in making it smaller if we end up showing flights for half the following week, which in my view is pointless. There is plenty of room to show the flights we have and the following day and surely that is sufficient. In my view the LBA web site, including arrivals/departures, is better than DSA by a long way and better than many others too. When it comes to people with limited eyesight, bigger is better - something LBA have obviously recognised.

But.... the flight info is deleted far too soon. Need a much longer history on departures and arrivals. Especailly when it comes to days with weather disruption, passengers, crew and people meeting passengers need to have a wider view of the situation & history of the day.

White Heather, I think wawkrk is just referring to the big white gaps as opposed to the actual information provided. Why have lots of 'white' unused space meaning you have to scroll down the equivalent of three pages when it could have all been displayed on one page.

Another small snag.

At the top of the page in the tab that should say "Leeds Bradford Airport - Home" it just says "home". Websites usually add the title here. I would also say there is the equivalent to a page too much information on the home page.

Overall the site is very good and it compares (looks like) Birmingham's website.

I agree totally and I have already fallen foul of this when checking to see if there were any inbound diverts. Nothing was showing so I assumed there were none. When I found out on here there were, and posted to ask why they were not putting them on the arrivals, lbaspotter kindly pointed out my error - that they had been on and already removed. I am certainly going to send an e mail to the airport and I would suggest everyone else does too. Hopefully they will do something about it quickly.

My comments about the wasted space on the departures board would give more space for more information.
I think this point was completely lost except for Aviador. Also, what happens when the number of flights double?
If LHR used this format there would be hundreds of pages. It should be a source of as much comprehensive information as possible at a glance.

Whilst it's nice to have airline logos on the arrival and departure page, if they can't provide them for every airline they might as well not use them. They are large and add to the page sprawl that wawkrk is referring to.

A number of far larger airports around the world do use logos on their arrivals and departures web pages.

Here's a link to Melbourne Airport Domestic Arrivals

http://www.melbourneairport.com.au/Flig ... DA&page=14

International Arrivals has a different page.

When I say page for both Domestic and International Arrivals (and Departures) I mean pages because in their system it's possible to click forward on to succeeding pages for future arrivals/departures or back to see those that have already landed or departed.

Incidentally, my local airport at Bristol has a very boring looking arrivals and departures section that runs for 24-30 hours and past departures are retained for much of that day. However, it has an annoying habit of merely showing 'departed' instead of the time the aircraft departed. As I understand it at least LBA shows the time all its aircraft departed even if the information is not currently being retained for very long.

The airport are going to increase the amount of time that departures and arrivals show up after they have gone or arrived, to around 1 hour and this should be done within the next day or two. The system is not working at the moment, so maybe they are doing something to tweak things now. As for the size of the departures and arrivals and the space it occupies, obviously my point about making things easy for people who have difficulty seeing things was also lost. I guess it is another issue that we will have to agree to disagree on. Surely wawkrk there is something about the new website that you like though? You have been very critical of the old one not being replaced, and now it has been, but your only comment so far seems to be negative?

Other complications occur when you try to show code sharing.
If you look at Balice airport for example, the same flight shows several times with the partner airlines.
Brussels shows 3 flights but of course only 1 in reality.
I would think many passengers are confused also.
As more airlines join alliances, it will become worse.
At least LBA does not try to do this.If they did, then 3 flights would show 3 logos taking 9 lines for 1 flight!
Some smaller airports use this idea I imagine to make it look as though there are lots of flights.

Looked on LBA arrivals this afternoon and it showed an Eastern flight as 'diverted to MME' any member of the public who does not know their airports would wonder where the hell it was (Teeside) if you didn't know!!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
