The airport has replaced the artist impression of the World Duty Free image on it's Homepage with a real image from the same angle. It looks really good, if not better than the original impression.

Well Done!

I have noted recently that the home page of the website where you can read "Airport News" has a glitch on it. When a piece is added, this date applies to the previous articles ie Monarch and Thomson news has been on 3/4 times. If you read the archive it gives the original date.
It gives the impression, from the Home page, that there is a lot more news than there actually is.

The airport is running a nice advertising campaign on the airport website at the moment.

There's nothing new that we didn't already know but it highlights routes to those who weren't aware such flights were available from LBA using BA, KLM and PIA.

I know the airport is due to release a new updated masterplan shortly but on the same page as the old masterplan there's an annoying "Travel Updates" section which has displayed a notice of "road works on the A653 Victoria Road Tunnel for Maintenace work dated 4 February 2013 to 6 February 2100 to 0600 (overnight)". On top of the rather outdated item they also got the road number incorrect because it's the A658 not the A653 as displayed.

Aviador if you email the airport to let them know they will remove it. I have done this on numerous occasions and it is referred to the appropriate team to remove the outdated or incorrect information.

Just a little update on the LBA website; on the arrivals and departures now it looks like LBA have FINALLY got a picture of Austrian Airlines logo, it definitely looks more professional then the LBA logo! Lets hope they do the same for Balkan Holidays during the summer.

Just visited the LBA website to see if there's anything new. A couple of days ago on the Aer Lingus thread somebody mentioned onward connections to the states were not available yet which in itself is poor given that is the way the route is being advertised. Well today the link from the LBA website to the Aer Lingus website isn't even working.

We're sorry, but the page you were looking for couldn't be found. Please try again using the main navigation above, or by using search at the top of the page.

Thank you.

This is such a poor performance from LBA not to even have a link that works to the sponsors website. Does nobody test the items before they go live because this isn't the first time this has happened. How many customers will have decided not to bother looking any further if the link isn't working! :s_no

I think LBA are updating their system. It's been a bit funny over the last couple of days.

For example I've just noticed the arrivals and departure screens suggest US airways are operating the BA shuttle flights tomorrow! Glitch :whiteflag:

Why would LBA have US Airways in the system at all, unless that's the start of another rumour..

US Airways/American are in One World with BA so they have flight numbers on LBA flights as do Qantas etc.

We even have the "Bizz Jet" departures on the departure board now !
Looks likes we are copying Humberside by putting anything that moves on the board to make it look busy. With the cut backs of Monarch and Ryanair next summer it might be a good idea.

What Monarch cut backs are those? They had 2 based a/c last summer and 2 next summer. So no real change in terms of departures and arrivals.

As for the departures and arrivals - all the BA flights today and tomorrow are also now showing their US Airways code share flight number. Frankly I am surprised they haven't done this before as the majority of airports do show flight share numbers. After all, someone booking from the US to LBA on US Airways will have US Airways flight numbers on their tickets. I don't think it is anything to do with trying to make the airport look busy.

Also noticeable that for the past couple of days the Monarch logo has disappeared and has been replaced with the LBA logo. I am not sure why this is - does anyone know? Is it possibly the case that following the re-organisation of Monarch they are changing their branding and therefore the logo?

I understood that Monarch had dropped some destinations for next summer ! How does the program compare with 2014 are there more or less flights per week ? I just hope the airport are not going to put all the code share flight numbers on the board with the Ba and Klm flights like they do at Manchester.

a300boy I can confirm Monarch Airlines will be operating 28x weekly flights = 4 daily next summer 2015 with 2x based Airbus A320's, which is same amount of flights as summer 2014.
Yes 3 routes dropped includes Bodrum, Heraklion and Arrecife. New routes to Naples and Alicante will be started plus extra flights added to Faro and Dalaman. See my post on the Monarch thread using the following link for further details; topic2324-760.html#p55481

Hope that helps.

The airport has just this week upgraded the old 20/20 flight management system to a new form of software, this is why the multiflight and private flights are showing on arrivals and departures, and also why the monarch logo has disappeared, still a few issues to iron out, you will also notice the flight information bored in the terminal have changed format, similar design, just a lot smarter and clearer, hope this clears up some confusion

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
