So based on the information we have had available to us, I am not aware of a single candidate who is seen to actively support the airport.

From what little we know, Tracy Brabin avoids any discussions about the airport and hasn't been seen promoting the West Yorkshire airport in any way. Her only comment on the airports former terminal application was after the airport had pulled the plans. It could be argued she has done very little in the time she has been Mayor.

The only other candidate I have heard speak about the airport has been Bob Buxton who claims he supports the airport but then say he doesn't support any more night flights. So for someone who supports the airport, having night flights is a fundamental part of a 24 hour operation, so I don't see how he can say he supports the airport. He lives in Rawdon so that could bring positives or negatives from this candidate.

If I can find anything else out, I will post it here.

I watched them on TV last night and I have to say that not one of them inspired me enough to bother voting for them. What a sorry lit! They all seemed totally clueless. It says a lot that Tracy Brabin looked every bit as competent as the rest and that doesn't say much!

I've always said that our Mayor says nothing about LBA because:

a) she has no influence over it and therefore cannot claim any glory for any success.

b). She knows all her 5 buddies who are Leeds MPs oppose it and wishes to keep them sweet rather than opposing them .

c). She prefers to just sit on the fence, so she doesn't upset anyone (except us) and doesn't risk losing votes over an airport she cannot influence or control.

I suspect that it would be the Tory candidate who would probably support the airport as he made it clear last night that in true Tory style, he is an advocate for private ownership and funding which is exactly what we have at LBA.

white Heather you missed point d) for our Tracy, it doesn’t serve her own self interest and she has no opportunity to talk about herself, gushing as she does into camera. She actually makes me bilious 🤮
Well I sort of had they covered in point a), in that she cant bask in glory over LBAs success because she hasn't had any part to play in it.

Bob Buxton is a big supporter of the re-opening of DSA…..his X account is full of posts promoting the SaveDSA campaign……

Jonathan Tilt This guy stands out as he is independent and offers a no nonsense approach with "unrestricted travel" and "no climate alarmism". So that's unrestricted roads and airports. No ridiculous 20mph zones. I think that is in the bag for me.

What is worth a mention here too is it is also the local elections so, if you live in Leeds whoever you vote for may end up sitting on the Plans Panel. If you want to support the airport, you will need to chose your candidate carefully as a Labour Councillor in one area may support the airport, then in another they might be against the airport. The same can be said for both the the LibDem and Conservative candidates.

My Labour candidate is very cosy with Sobel, so almost certainly anti LBA, although she doesn't mention it in her leaflets. The Tory candidate may as well quit. He hasn't even done any leaflets so no idea how he feels about LBA. The Lib Dem candidate, has openly objected to LBA and especially night flights so he's a non starter for me.
All academic though as where I live, it's almost certain Labour will win.

I quite like the policies if the Independent Mayor candidate, but on TV last night, he didn't come across well. But then none of them did. In comparison to Andy Burnham, they are a sorry lot.

Stewart Golton, the LibDem candidate in the mayoral election is openly anti LBA and he has said he will make LBA accountable when referring to the night flying rules even though it is the fault of the Labour controlled council. It is a matter for the law, not, it is not a polatic matter. Steward Golton highlighting this article about LBA on "X" in a rant about the airport.

I don't think he has any way of making LBA accountable. It's not part of his job. It's a planning matter in Leeds, and a matter that as yet is a long way from being determined. Just because Leeds Council has turned down two CLEUDs doesn't mean they are right and the airport are wrong. The Council are covering their own backs and I hope/expect the airport to take this further.

The claims from Golton, and the Lib Dem candidate for my area ( in the local elections ), are just bluster to attract votes from the anti airport fraternity.

During the planning process for the airport, I seem to recall the LibDem councillors were all against the proposals.

Arnold Craven, well, other than knowing his favourite biscuit is the Jammy Dodger, little is known about this man. Looking at his "X" feed, he is seen in a campaign picture promoting a 20mph zone. He has said he also wants a rapid transport system for West Yorkshire.

Hilariously when searching Google for "Arnold Craven Leeds Bradford Airport", the only thing that comes up in the search is this thread so he has literally no view on the airport whatsoever.

They all need removing - so I say "burn em" all lol

Yes his views seem somewhat different to previous years when he seemed to support the airport. His party line is now not to support the aviation with climate change as the reason for their change of opinion. The LibDem view during th airport planning process for a new terminal was very much against the airport from what I could make out.

Some further research reveals Stewart Golton wanted to block any further developments at LBA

Not living in Leeds I think I can say this without upsetting anyone. It is a well to remember that politicians of any colour tend to change their tune depending who and when they are talking to, so what they say today may not (probably will not) be valid tomorrow.

This has always been so and will remain true for ever.

Well Alex Sobel, Labour MP changed his time big style from pro to anti, Golton did the same. Perhaps we should be grateful Tracy Brabin kept her powder dry and said nothing.
My voting pack arrived today and frankly, there isn't one I'd vote for by choice. The options were better last time with a Tory candidate who openly supported LBA.

I wouldn’t really give any of them the steam off my… well, you know the expression, but since not voting gives me no grounds to complain I’ve gone for the 2 who seem most pro LBA, the Independent Mayor and my local Tory candidate. Frankly a vote for the others… 😬

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
