Yes they are, they’ve completely overtaken TUI as the UK’s leading package holiday provider. easyJet want in, which they will do by offering more affordable holidays but without the same experience as Jet2 from start to finish. I think there is room for both, there’s a large amount of beds on the market that were otherwise taken by Russian operators and as Jet2 take the higher and mid cost market because of that service, easyjet will be able to appeal to those that want a package holiday but don’t have the money. I see this only as a good thing as it will provide more choice to the customer, how sustainable it is remains to be seen.That’s been their strategy for about the last 10 years! A successful one too - aren’t they the biggest tour operator in terms of ATOL seat number?
I think there is more to todays news than just natural expansion.
