TUI diverting to MAN without coming near LBA. Anyone know why?
Everything else has got in first attempt. It’s a MAN based crew too.
Not any more. Jet2s LS230 from Palma just went around (1438). Landed 2nd time at 1450.Everything else has got in first attempt.TUI.. unless the crew are not capable for whatever reason?
I watched a few different YouTube live streams yesterday including Dublin, Birmingham and Edinburgh and each airport had the odd go-around so not something unique to LBA at all.Meanwhile, back at LBA there's a plane load of passengers wondering why theirs is not only at MAN but didn't even make an attempt to land whilst others are doing so first time. The wind is 280, 25 knots so diagonal rather than a true crosswind.
Maybe the captain's got plans today!
Incidentally, did anyone see yesterday's TUi when it did its touch and go? It landed OK, all wheels down, looking steady, but no speed brakes deployed snd instead of slowing down, it accelerated and took off again.

No it isn't, but there are some folk who believe its entirely an LBA thing as it suits their anti LBA narrative.I watched a few different YouTube live streams yesterday including Dublin, Birmingham and Edinburgh and each airport had the odd go-around so not something unique to LBA at all.
I suppose they'll claim it diverted for operational reasons, which can cover all sorts, from valid reasons such as a tech aircraft to nonsense that we've seen plenty of in the past from TUi.Apparently TUI pax being busses to MAN for outbound PMI.
Still don't get why it went around. According to someone on the flight, the crew announced there wasn't enough runway to stop safely, but it seemed to land very close to where everything lands and there was loads of runway length left. The speed brakes weren't deployed on touch down which was odd. Second time around they were up as soon as it got its nose wheel down.I see the TUI go around video on the YEP Facebook page has attracted plenty of comments- mostly from South Yorkshire peeps who are keen to promote DSA![]()
