MAN look to be having problems with snow a few diverts heading south. Hopefully some can head over here.

Potential for an inbound divert or two this morning as it's snowing again at MAN and LPL. There are around a dozen inbound flights to MAN making patterns in the sky whilst holding including a few Loganair and an Easyjet. The others are a bit on the big side. Whether the situation will deteriorate into a complete snow closure or not, only time will tell.

Getting a bit of practice in then.
If they are, then the gurus who deal with the arrivals and departures board on the website need to get their act together, as apparently, flight code LOG (Loganair) is LOT Polish Airlines!

Shame we haven't seen much more diverts so far. BHX seems to have taken a lot. Weather over hear looks perfect.
Just watched the Buzz MAX from Sofia, heading into LPL. FR24 showed it was originally diverting to EMA which isnt great for passengers. LBA would have made more sense. In the end it got into LPL .

Looks like the Finnair is heading to EMA. Let's hope for a little bit more at least

Also looks like MAN open again and VS A330 from ATL now on approach there

Its important to remember these last couple of days some airports have been a lot worse the LBA. MAN/LPL/BRS/NCL to name a few, not forgetting BHD/BFS over the past month. Yes LBA is notorious for bad weather/disruption but as you can see no airport escapes the winter weather. travelling in winter is pot luck, a risk from any airport. People saying they avoid LBA all together in winter, what if you was in MAN today?

it is hard to judge, but great to see MAN/LPL reopening in quick form again this morning.

Apologies for quoting this 3 times - it appears Virgin have acquired an A990!

It feels like the reputation of LBA is tard so badly diversions to LBA are rarely even a consideration.
If LBA is to claw its way out of this, it needs to change the reality to be able to change the perception. New equipment, better technology and be super efficient. The current investment will help to some degree but additional measures will need looking at. That's my view. I know not everyone will agree.

I believe most people agree with your comments about the perception of the airport and the need for better technology to handle the aircraft movements due to the location of the airfield. The infrastructure has hopefully been resolved for the coming years with the opening of the new terminal this Spring and the refurbishment of the old terminal over the next 12 months or so. I think we all know the airfield needs a number of improvements but all this comes at a cost, we are never going to be able to change the direction the wind blows but the runway needs work together with improvements to the ILS as witnessed these last few days as aircraft have been unable to do a CAT3 landing due to snow. It is also good to hear that the airport has a programme for new aircraft stands which are needed if we are to reach the 7m passengers p.a. target. Ideally when the runway is resurfaced the hump should be removed but this will never happen due to cost and would also necessitate closure of the runway for days on end. This could have been done years ago when we had few flights, impractical nowadays even in winter as our 'little airport on the hill' has a large number of winter flights comparable with similar sized airports in the UK. We all know an extra 300m extension to the runway would be more than adequate to resolve a lot of the issues and allow larger aircraft to operate, however this would cause issues with the glideslope, the ILS system currently in use, if we could just get rid of the chevon then all the issue could be resolved. As technology improve year on year perhaps we may be able to overcome these issues, however it all comes down to money.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
