Was originally planned to fly back to LBA from ALC this friday 24th but after checking the weather forecasts its looking like a pretty nasty storm is due to hit the uk on friday, so now flying back sat 25th evening.
A very powerful jetstream is forming due to extreme cold weather in the US so no doubt we will see high winds and quite a few storms crossing the atlantic!
Jetstream winds at 35000 feet said to be 230 mph. Some very quick West to East transatlantic flights. Complete opposite heading the other way.

Did you change at your expense?

Looks like Jet2 have rescheduled some of todays departures from LBA due to the stormy weather

07:45 Antalya now estimated departure 17:00
09:45 Lanzarote now estimated departure 16:40
10:40 Tenerife South now estimated departure 16:00

All other flights seem unaffected at the moment and are scheduled to depart on time

Our Easyjet Europe flight from Paris is currently in the hold at 8000' near Preston, so probably waiting it's turn for a MAN approach. There, the wind is straight down the runway at 27 knots, and 23L is out of use so they may have to wait a while, especially as there have been several go arounds at MAN. Our Buzz flight from Warsaw is just touching down at MAN too.

Update. Easyjet now on approach to MAN.

LBA wind is 230, 33 gusting 50 knots at 1241 so easy to see why nothing is landing. For comparison, MAN is 230, 31 gusting 44 knots. The forecast suggests we are now heading into the period where winds are strongest with an improvement late afternoon.

Quite. 31kts, gusting 51 across the LBA runway, whilst MAN is gusting up to 39kts down the runway, but only up to 7kts across - an easy decision for the crew.

The LS272 from ALC just gave it a go on 32 but never looked likely. Go around. Tracked on FR24 by 4000 people!
Surprisingly, it's giving it another go and if it doesnt get in, it's heading to BHX.

Update: Virtually sideways on approach, and, Birmingham here we come! Really late decision this time.

Jet2 from Malaga now. Perfect landing! Brilliant flying. Tracked by 5000 on FR24, 3rd highest globally. Fame at last for LBA. Or should that be infamy?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
