Doesnt sound very efficient.No just a procedure change so a second tug with the fourth cart will be needed. That should be a huge change.

It does show 4 trolleys per tug though.The trolleys/carts as are the industry standard as far as I know. If you look at the diagram from the plan, you will see the sharp turn to do a 180 on the left.

Yes and there are holds at the front and the rear of the aircraft. It shouldn't be too big a problem for airlines.Even at Manchester I have seen two tugs doing a 737-800, so whilst not ideal, it’s not exactly an issue. Similarly the same happened at Malaga last time I was there. Something else to consider is that not everyone takes hold baggage and not all flights are full, so how often is 4 trolleys actually needed.
That's what it was planned for but in reality its not a great fit. The testing revealed there is a high likelihood of colliding with the bollards if four are used and they have to mitigate the risk.It does show 4 trolleys per tug though.

I did a spell on baggage but being laid off for the winter it was never going to work for me personally. During my spell on baggage, what was apparent in my view was the team work is an integral part of the job and a can do attitude clearly plays a significant roll. During my time, I recall many occasions when only three carts were used but part of the team would go back to the aircraft for remaining bags with a forth cart. I don't forsee this being a problem as such and I am sure the teams will work out a system to ensure it works. Two tugs per flight is the standard for Jet2 at Leeds. But if both tugs (and half the turnaround team) are at baggage reclaim, another tug (with outbound bags & replacement staff) is needed to get the a/c loaded on time. Manchester may be equiped for this, but Leeds isn't atm.

Why not? Two tugs pulling 2 or 3 carts. Jet2 will just have to adjust accordingly.Doesn't bode well for future Jet2 A321 ops. Surely, there must be more to this than meets the eye.
Remember this is plan B.I wonder if the risk of collision with more than three carts was known at the design stage of the extension and could not be overcome, whether it was an oversight only discovered once operations began or whether it was a deliberate design choice?
