I dont profess to know, but I would have thought it could be quite hard to intercept at 7 miles and establish a stable approach. Quite a high cockpit workload.

Not at all. Perfectly easy to do. Happens every day around the UK.

If you want high workload try a Ryanair style low drag approach - no gear or flaps 15 until 4nm

Totally agree. FAP for the ILS on runway 14 is 6.1 miles. Turning in at 7 miles I’d say is a well flown stable approach.

Yes not so long ago we had the stop-start saga of IPS, rumours of other airlines wanting to supposedly start Pakistan flights, hope of expansion from BE - all of which seem to have fallen by the way side and in the case of the latter it’s contraction. Does anyone have any genuine positive news to report or will this be LBAs winter of discontent!

It's quite obvious that since the new CEO took over, LBA have adopted a policy of say nowt! With GALBA lurking looking for any opportunity to create havoc, I can't really blame them but the lack of airline growth beyond the obvious is somewhat concerning, as it's been like this now since before the pandemic.

The terminal extension should bring good news eventually but even that starting looks to be 12 months away.

Obviously with the news surrounding DSA shutting, I have seen several very very unreliable posts from what I can only describe as glory fans of DSA on social media saying MAN, LBA & EMA all want DSA to shut (I mean I'm not sure of their point? of course they do? its a competitor airport?) then LBA gets a hammering saying it should shut instead and everything should be moved to DSA including the funding/investments at LBA, you have to laugh are people that dumb... obviously doesn't work like that. LBA's investments are private by the owners that see a future there. DSA has failed because a number of reasons. Doncaster is half the city of Leeds, its not comparable. LBA has nothing to do with it & manages to attract airlines / Pax. People say that Pax only want to fly from LBA because it convenient to them.. well yeah? isn't that the whole point of anyone travelling? I don't fly from T5 LHR because of the fancy terminal if I'm going to Spain, ill go from LBA as its 20 minutes away. LBA attracts a lot of Geordies/Scottish & Pax from the other side of the hill, vice versa with LBA's competitors all catching its target market. many Pax will travel from an airport solely on ticket cost and nothing else.

All smacks of desperation from people who don't have a clue how the aviation industry works. If they did, they would understand why DSA has failed to live up to the hype.

Perhaps it’s just people being passionate about their local airport and having facts presented to them by local news, which is far from balanced.

So if your only news feed is say Look North, your only experience is a once or twice a year flight through DSA, where you have a lovely experience, then you may feel invested in the future of the airport, but not have full facts.

Joe Public shouldn’t be blamed for that, but Peel, local MP’s, South Yorkshire Mayor and the likes of the BBC, who should make it their business to be better informed, and should in turn be setting out realistic facts to locals of DSA. They in turn, can then make an informed decision on whether it is realistic, and appropriate to support long term investment from the public purse; or whether the site is better suited for jobs, housing, logistics, or whatever else may be a better fit for Doncaster and environs for the long term.

I think Joe Public should be blamed / held responsible for their only argument to keep DSA open is to shut LBA.. when the whole situation is nothing to do with LBA. Not a strong argument/invalid if you ask me. Like Heather said its desperation and actually funny to read how little knowledge they actually have.

In a sense they have a point, but they don’t really get it as they are blinded to DSA and all the myths and falsehoods that still surround it now, nearly 20 years after the public enquiry. People were led to believe that DSA would be the Heathrow of the north because of the runway. This was corrected at the enquiry but was ignored.

In truth, for DSA to become a success, LBA would need to shut, but they’d probably also need to build a giant wall across the Pennines to stop us Yorkies and Yellowbellies from being able to access MAN. EMA would need to suffer too. Let’s face it, Peel did allude in their plans that DSA would need to attract traffic away from the incumbents when it opened, it’s central location being its USP. Some of us were cynical then. Sadly it’s turned out to be true, DSA wasn’t needed, more airlines at the current airports were. Sheffield City closure was a travesty, yet people fully supported Peel in this ironically.

Yorkshire Water is dealing with the issue - but it means toilet facilities are currently unavailable.

A burst water main in Yeadon which left Leeds Bradford Airport without supply has been fixed.

Yorkshire Water dealt with the leakage as a matter of urgency, but access to toilet facilities were unavailable for around 20 minutes.

The water supply has since returned to Leeds Bradford, meaning all retail, lounge and toilets are now fully operational.
In the latest update from the airport, a spokesperson for Leeds Bradford said: "Thank you for your patience. We’ve been informed that Yorkshire Water has fixed the problem.

The burst water mains was first reported at around 19:30 yesterday evening at the Fountain crossroads.
