Presumably it's that stop where it picks up? Having retired in 2017 I haven't been to the station in almost 4 years now. No more business trips to London. I quite miss it!

It’s an amazing station after all the renovations - all we need now is an airport to match it!
Couldn’t agree more with the second point, however (While admittedly I would seem to be in the minority) I dislike the station since the renovations, the station lost its charm for me, plus that modern artsy southern entrance thing is hideous. It’s a railway station, not an art gallery, it just doesn’t do it for me. Anyway, rant over, let’s hope this terminal gets approved :)

Its been a stressful nerve jangling week for all of us. I think we all know about Covids effect on aviation so not much point highlighting it continually. Definitely not the place to digress into more general Covid chat like the pros and cons of immunisation.

The fantastic news out of LBA this week has kept me going! like many others i used to have a busy lifestyle with work, travelling, socialising and of course my hobby aviation. Due to the kung flu as i call it ive worked 6 and a half months in the last 13 months, its just so depressing spending most days at home with bugger all to do, so this week has been a good one with the airport plans approved!

I am going to call a residents meeting in my patch asap subject to Covid to discuss with them all the positive aspects of having an Airport next door to us and what could happen in this area if it closed.
I have had three or four conversation already with my new next door neighbor and other households close by.
I would like to see the airport get more pro-active in putting out a positive vibe and not demonizing the local population because lots of them are not as well informed as we are and have jumped on the bandwagon.
I received an E Mail from a local newspaper asking if I or any other resident on our street would be prepared to speak to them about the situation.
I did this once before when as Chairman of a local football club I was asked to discuss the clubs direction and its aspirations.
Thanks to many miss quotes and twisting of my comments it resulted in the first team manager resigning as he believed the resulting article which had very little of my comments correctly reported.
Some will of course still have differing opinions but when faced with what could and might be the other options for a massive piece of real estate close to Leeds City Centre could be persuaded to think a little more about the small amount of noise and pollution they seem to have problems with.

Well, we may have seen the last of committee reports that WH used to so helpfully prepare.

Why would that be? I only said I was not going on threads that were discussing Covid and in particular, casting doubt on the vaccine, particularly as I get mine tomorrow. Reading such stuff is scary and takes away hope. I come on here to read about LBA, rather than the end of life as we know it!

For the time being I am still on the Airport Consultative Committee and will still report back , although after 30 years I had been reviewing whether the time is coming to call it a day, as I have found recent months relating to LBA combined with 'you know what' very stressful. The help from Aviador, LBASpotter, and yourself, along with the supportive comments from everyone else plus the positive outcome has boosted enthusiasm though, as well as improving my opinion of Leeds City Council.

Provided nothing de-rails the terminal again I will probably continue for a while, perhaps until it's built and in use, if only because it should be the most exciting time in LBAs history. The time will come though where either someone else will need to take over from me, or the Support Group will cease to be a member of the Consultative Committee.

@White Heather I'm total agreement with you regards Covid. I'm absolutely fed up of hearing and reading about it on the LBA threads. I have said and pointed this out several times now over recent weeks and months that the is a dedicated thread on this forum to continue the Covid discussion.

We've just won one of the biggest battles the airport has faced in its 90 year history. I know how much you have put in to this along with @Aviador and myself. Without you the wouldn't be an LBA Support Group.
Its being a gruelling 13 months and the 3 of us have been knocked from pillow to post by the anti airport brigade and the local press, but everytime we've got back up and thought back thoses claims and lies. The battle is not over yet but the end is now very close.

We can now look forward to a very bright exciting future for our airport. A legacy started by Hywel Rees whom ripped up the previous CEO's plans and had the foresight to see how LBA should be a Premier league airport with a brand new Terminal. To be honest it one that not anyone of us saw coming!
I for one cannot wait to see builders on the construction site and steel work going up.

Covid seems to be cropping u in most topics so I was concerned we might never hear from you again! I think we need you at least until the new terminal is in operation or at least some point before that when we are certain the planning permission cant be rolled back. As someone said earlier a significant battle has just been won. but we cant assume the war is over yet.

This is why we all need to keep pressure on the media, place comments on articles and definitely try to get on radio phone ins to reach as many people as possible with the facts.

Im interested to know the outcomes of the Bristol and Stansted reviews, do we know when these are due?

Bristol has launched its appeal and it is now in the hands of the Planning Inspectorate. The main part of the procedure will involve a public enquiry that is scheduled for July this year and is anticipated to take up to four weeks.

The planning inspector can determine the appeal outcome him or herself, but it's highly likely that the secretary of state will 'recover' it and make the decision himself taking into account the planning inspector's recommendations although these are not binding on the minister. It's unlikely that the outcome will be known until late 2021 at the earliest and even if the airport is successful it can be anticipated that opponents will then try to make legal challenges.

I'm not aware of the state of play with Stansted although I think that Bristol is ahead in the timeline because the environmental lobby regards it as something of a 'test case' and is ploughing in tens of thousands of pounds to put its case at the public enquiry with both national and international funding from the environmental 'industry'.

I think we not always fully understand the amount of work you and other members do, not only for this group, but the greater public through the Consultative Committee. I think we might though have some idea of the stress you have been under covering both roles and the possible adverse impact on your enthusiasm for LBIA and aviation in general if matters had taken a different turn, and might still do.

I am not aware of the internal dynamics of leadership/ management within the administration of this forum but we are all here to support you and others through this tough period to a successful conclusion of the airport’s development.

Just Yell.

I think with the positive comments and support that have come from other areas of the country for LBA should be reciprocated for BRS, in the interests of UK aviation as a whole. Subject to everyone’s individual circumstances of course - time permitting. That said, I too don’t think any of us should underestimate the particular efforts of WH, Aviador and LBAspotter. They are the 3 main names in a wider collective though in helping LBA receive its biggest ever boost

completely agree with the above, the last 13 months or so has been very stressful for alot of members, I know for one i have taken myself of this forum for a few weeks as it was becoming too much. we all need to remember now the worst bit is over and a fantastic future is looking more and more promising. yes we still have a few hurdles to over come but im sure that can be easily resolved.

Excellent news about the approval of the new terminal. Long overdue. Any idea what the next steps are as I haven’t seen anything solid in the press. Are the owners going to be getting on with it straight away? I do hope they haven’t gained planning approval to sell on..!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
