I know we do shoot LBA4EVER down for repetition (he would be no good on Just A Minute) but to some degree he does have a point. The historical stigma and image needs changing. Why don’t the airport do a press article re percentage of flights that actually divert away and other positive news. As has been said MME never miss a trick. It is all very depressingly quiet at LBA just now, although we are still just emerging from a pandemic and things are on the up finally. But we need this terminal approved and our fantastic airport needs moving forwards into the 21st century. Then - what bad stigma?
Thanks finger66, it is our historical image that is the problem, like we all agree this new terminal has to happen and if it does then it will completely change the airport, like you say-what bad stigma?

The trouble is. How can the local infrastructure cope with 10mppa! Never will be able to. So we can only dream of that and it’s time to look very much at the bigger and wider picture. 7mppa is achievable and should be welcomed.

Anymore and we maybe struggling in terms of infrastructure on roads, a roads, roundabouts etc.

Also what affect, detrimental or otherwise, would 10mppa have on MAN? The north should succeed. There is only a finite number of passengers for airlines to take for services they operate however.

I agree some positive news re: winter flying PR out of LBA is needed. Can be pushed by Jet2/Ryanair as well as LBA.

Well with John Cunliffe and his easyJet/Emirates background, plus Nicola and what appears to be a longstanding and successful MAN background, we have a team that in theory should be able to do the business. But, without the terminal, they are likely to struggle I fear.
The big question is, what made this lady leave an airport like MAN, which attracts airlines like a magnet, and come here? She obviously likes a challenge!!

One reason why i mentioned the railway station as this would help in reducing car journeys to the airport esp as its coming from leeds cc and the other direction from northern towns such as harrogate

But LBA has a much larger draw than the Harrogate line and CC. I agree if the quality of hotels goes up slightly people will stay, especially for early morning flights, but I bet the majority would still commute via car as it's easier. The railway station will act first and foremost as an overflow station for Horsforth, drawing from Cookridge and as a secondary airport. That is the aim of the railway station.

We both know that it should be linked to the A Road going up and around the back of the airport - but you can thank the lack of any vision on the councillors of this city and NIMBY's who are happy to moan but god help them acting upon the words and what they want. They want it provide it doesn't go past their front door, interrupt their golf course and go near where they live. Same people that moan about the housing crisis but first to complain about new developments.

Is this the virtual railway station to complement the virtual new terminal???

I have a feeling they'll sign the station off regardless of what happens with the terminal. It will suit the LCC green communist agenda and is definitely needed for Leeds North West - mainly Cookridge, Rawdon and Horsforth. Some of us have a sufficient and quick enough bus service that we actually don't require any new railway stations.

Len Fish, should that not be a rich woman’s world In this instance :) Perhaps the potential to grow an airport and make a personal difference is a factor too, at MAN she would have been another cog in a very big machine, where at LBA she can grow her career and have a more personal impact.....hopefully! Good luck to her, let’s hope she can make a difference.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
