Yeap Leeds-Bradford - Newquay looks to be axed along with the base.

It's a shame to lose the routes, but frankly, Eastern are so unreliable that it's hard to see their disappearance as a real loss. Perhaps someone else is waiting in the wings. Flybe2 maybe? Both Eastern routes are ex Flybe.

They are showing to be very unreliable at the minute with all these route cuts and changes they keep making. And not just here at LBA.

Though I agree that SOU and NQY could be routes that Flybe2 could look at operating. Here’s hoping

It is sad regarding SOU as I believe it has been operated since 1994 initially by ATS Vulcan and then Knight Air/YEA.
Can anyone confirm? WH maybe.

I think Capital did SOU even earlier, around 1988 until their demise in 1990.

They almost exclusively serviced the Leeds routes with Jetstream 41`s, around the 30year ish age. The maintenance costs must be very high and maybe disproporiate to their worth. I would not be suprised to see some more of this type WFU in the near future. But with Eastern who knows????

Don't think so. We did, very briefly have a Jetstream 31 route to Bournemouth operated by Euro Direct but it only lasted a short time. Other than that, not sure we ever had a scheduled route to Bournemouth.

Dan-Air definitely operated LBA-BOH in 1973 on Mondays and Fridays with the LBA based HS748. I used it to return from the NATS college.

A bit before my time.....I was around but not really got into LBA and it's routes until the mid 70s

Yes Capital did fly LBA - SOU as an extn of the LBA -EDI service. 3 a day to EDI continuing on twice a day to SOU. Similar vein to their LBA - GLA - LBA - BRS - CWL routes

What is the point of having a J41 sat around doing nothing other than a few NQY flights a week. Is something else planned or are they expecting SOU to return once travel demand fully returns. What was the word lbaspotter used..............

They need an ATR72 on Newquay. The J41 is useless and nowhere near what's needed.

Leeds to Newquay looks to be scrapped. It’s being replaced with Humberside.
