Turkish A330 flights started early, was supposed to be starting tomorrow, but, A330-300 TC-JNR did the morning flight today.

I wonder if anyone knows the rough percentage of passengers from MAN who fly on with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to more distant destinations and the countries that see the majority of these passengers. I'm asking the same question in the BHX Turkish thread.

I was thinking the same TheLocalYokel in terms of how likely Turkish Airlines are to be a regional player in the UK flying from smaller regional airports? I would be interested to know if they have an appetite to pursue other regional departure points in the UK other than Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

I remember seeing a figure of about 68.1% connecting for the 2013 period.

The new 3rd daily flight is now bookable into the winter on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with B737.

Great to see the increase continue.

Turkish Airlines will return to a full 21 weekly schedue from 29th March.

So, Turkish for the next 12 months sees:

until 22nd May 14 weekly
23rd May-22 June 18 weekly
23 June-24th Oct 21 weekly
24th Oct-28th March 18 weekly
29th March-UFN 21 weekly.

Flights use A321/A330 on the 2 day flights, B737 on the late night flights.

There are quite a few British people who live in places like Marmaris so imagine there will be a number of people who will use it. The weather there might not get great in the winter but it's probably still far better than it is here.

Turkish really picking up momentum at MAN now.

The morning TK1993/1994 flight is being upgraded to the A330 on yet more dates, with 21-24th the next batch, and dates all the way through to December seeing ad-hoc A330's. Would love to see a B77W but they are not as 'free' as the A330 fleet for upgrades.

The TK1492/1493 flight is also seeing a lot of upgrades.

When the announcement was made, it was down to be an A319' then, a switch to B737-700's was made, but, the flight has mostly been using B737-800's, with a few -900's thrown in, and bigger still, the A321 scheduled in a fair few dates. I'm sure I had seen an A330 on one date too but can't seem to find it again.

The next few weeks also sees a fair few sold out flights, and while currently TK are due to be 18 weekly over winter, it's very likely we will see a full 21 weekly schedule.

Great to see that the MEB3 are not stealing all the pax ex-MAN, with Turkish going from strength to strength, Cathay reporting an average 91% load for June and Saudia carrying over 200 pax on each flight thus far.

Turkish 3rd daily loads must be picking up every week, this evenings TK1491 is showing as a A320.
As user001 has stated there will be a few A321s in next few weeks during the school holidays.

All signs indicate both carriers are doing well.

Iraqi in particular have some pretty high fares.

Another B737-900 used on the night time Istanbul flight. This flight is also now scheduled to be the larger B737-800 all winter instead of the -700. It is also expected to. Be a full 7 weekly flight instead of 4 weekly.

It's great to see Turkish doing so well.

Turkish Airlines have again increased Manchester flights.

The evening TK1491/1492 flight will now be operated by the B737-900, and instead of the flight being 4 weekly Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun over winter, it is now bookable as 5 weekly with a Saturday flight added. It will likely be made daily over the winter, but, if it does not, it does return to daily on 29th March.

This makes MAN-IST 19 weekly over winter thus far.

The A330 also makes more appearances over the next few weeks, with dates added in September and October.

Turkish seem to be going well at MAN!

Rumours suggest Turkish are looking at adding Istanbul Sabhia Ghocken, Dalaman and Ankara flights from MAN.

Apparently they want to do to MAN what they do at multiple German regional airports, which is serve wide bodies at peak times, as well as open up other areas of Turkey.

Could be interesting.

Some more A330's showing in the run up to Christmas and some odd dates in November too.

Tale of two halves for Turkish today.

The morning TK1993/4 was the smaller A320 TC-JAI, but the afternoon TK1995/6 flight is showing as the larger A330-200 TC-JIR.

Sources suggest Turkish are evaluating Manchester capacity due to very strong forward sales in the June-Sept period.

Options being discussed are an A330 permanently on the TK1993/1994 flight over the months listed above, or, the introduction of a 4th daily flight to Istanbul Sabhia Ghoken using similar times to the TK1993/1994 flight. Flights would use B737-800.

I personally think option 2 may be considered, if only for Turkish to fight off Pegasus on their proposed route.

Turkish using the A330 on the following dates

25th March TK1995/1996 and TK1491/1492 flights
26th March TK1993/1994 and TK1995/1996 flights

More dates to follow.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
