TK currently in talks with the airport, regarding a new route planned to link LAX with IST. The service would be operated twice weekly routing via MAN, from IST to LAX, using either their Airbus A330-300 or their Airbus A340-300's

Something in the pipeline and to watch out for guys...

Turkish airlines have this week increased MAN to 9 weekly (2 daily on Mon and Sun).

The 10th weekly flight will be added next month (extra flight on Friday).

Not content with this, Turkish have been using the larger A321 on most flights in the past 2 weeks.

Now, Turkish have upgraded MAN again, with the introduction of the B737-900 on the TK1993/1994.

MAN is the only European route to see the B737-900 scheduled, with the other B737-900 routes being Addis Abbah and Niarobi.

Seems trade is doing well going east from Manchester!

Another first for Manchester with the Boeing 737-900?

Did PIA ever form an alliance with Turkish Airlines or did it fall through?

The B737-900 of Turkish has visited before, on an ad-hoc upgrade. This is the first time the aircraft has been 'scheduled' on a regular basis.

Did this ever go ahead? Because I was at MAN in October and I saw a Turkish A340-300 leave in the Sunday morning... around 9/10-ish

Turkish Airlines have increased their Manchester-Istanbul flights again.

From the start of April 2013, flights are bookable as 2 daily, up from the current 10 weekly.

The morning flight will be on the B737-900, and the afternoon flight will be on the B737-800.

Turkish have also indicated that they intend to make Manchester 3x Daily at the end of 2013.

I see that the 737-900 is on both flights nearly every day now.

Any news on a 3rd daily flight as mentioned above or could a 330 start operation on one of the flights?

Yes the B737-900 is pretty much on all flights now, and a 3rd daily flight is mooted for May next year along with BHX increasing to a full 2 daily flight, but as yet, has not been announced.

MAN does get the A340 and A330 on some flights but its not that common to see them.

The Dalaman tourist board are reporting that Turkish Airlines will begin direct and year round flights between Dalaman and Manchester next year after a strong case was put forward for the link.

As rumoured, Turkish have switched to the larger A321 on all flights out of MAN this summer. There is also talk that the A330 will be used during peak summer too, but not confirmed yet.

Due to increased demand, and as rumoured in the last post here on 6th April, Turkish Airlines are upgrading selected flights in August and September to A340's and A330's.

25th August TK1995/1996 uses A340-300
1st September TK1995/1996 uses A330-200
2nd September TK1993/1994 uses A330-200
3rd September TK1993/1994 uses A330-200
6th September TK1995/1996 uses A330-200
7th September TK1995/1996 uses A330-200

There are also more flights planned but not loaded into the system yet.

Turkish Airlines look likely to be using the A330-200 more regularly from Manchester.

According to airport workers, 3 separate A330 pilots (many flights using A330 this week) have commented that 'we will be here a lot more often from March', and when questioned, have stated that the TK1995/1996 flight will be upgraded to an A330.
