Bristol: Ryanair Routes News & Base Updates

I have to admit, FR are what they are. If you read and stick to their policies, you can't go wrong. Their customer service has improved and one thing I can say after working with them, FR rarely cancel flights unless they absolutely have to. Whereas EZY will cancel flights at the drop of a hat.
TLY If you're hand luggage only and want to keep it, I would recommend purchasing priority boarding. If you're checking in luggage and have minimal hand luggage priority boarding isn't worth it, because half the flight will also likely be priority boarding! Enjoy 🙂

We've flown with easyJet, and Go before that, over a hundred times and have never had a diversion or a severely delayed flight. The only cancellations we've had was in the summer of, I think 2008, when easyJet cancelled numerous flights in June that year because of an issue with pilots' hours and they wanted to ensure they could cope with the peak summer season.

It was widely advertised several weeks ahead and we had a lot of notice that two return flights we'd booked would not operate - one was EDI and the other NCL. Both were day trips so being transferred to a later flight that did operate was no use to us. The only thing that really annoyed me was that I had to phone them for the return of our fare money and the phone call cost over one pound. Not a major item in itself but it was the principle.

I notice that this morning's Aer Lingus Regional DUB rotation was cancelled but the Ryanair, near similar timings, operated.

I think Ryanair have come on quite a bit over the last few years in the sense of portraying a different image ,I myself was reluctant to use them from Faro last year but everything was fine, efficient and gets you from A to B, the new cabins also appear to be less of an eyesore, I'm sure you'll have a great trip together Local 🙂

I can't get any of these on the Ryanair website. I could get Limoges earlier (2 x weekly during the winter) but that's gone now. Probably in the process of loading. Knock did operate year-round in the first few years of the Ryanair base - until 2011. I can find no record of Limoges ever operating in winter before.

Venice at daily next winter is a big step up from the 4 x weekly this winter. With easyJet operating to Venice daily at the moment and through most of the summer and during October, it's a job to see that 14 x weekly, the total with both airlines, is viable in winter although the current 11 x weekly is not far short I suppose.

This summer is not all doom and gloom in terms of actual numbers of flights each month. Only August is down noticeably on 2017 with July down just one flight per week. The other main summer season months are up on 2017, viz (with 2017 shown first):

May 113/120; June 118/120; July 121/120; August 131/123; September 121/123

There will be one less route, ie Reus, Zadar and Bergerac have gone with new routes to Shannon and Cologne - a total of 30 in 2018.

The main drop in summer 2018 is Faro that reduces from 10 x weekly to 7 x weekly (daily) in August. The other months are as in 2017 (daily).

Alicante reduces from 10 x weekly to 8 x weekly in July but increases to 10 x weekly from 8 x weekly in September.

Palma increases to 10 x weekly from 9 x weekly in September.

Gran Canaria and Chania both reduce from 3 x weekly to 2 x weekly in July and August.

Tenerife reduces from 4 x weekly to 3 x weekly in July and August.

Dublin increases to 19 x weekly from 14 x weekly in June and July (and so maintains a schedule of 19 x weekly throughout the summer season).

The other routes that operated in summer 2017 have the same number of flights each week throughout the summer season in 2018, so far as I can tell. There is one caveat in that I checked these details a couple of weeks ago. So if there have been any changes since then I've not included them, except Shannon which I have included.

Perhaps Seville is understandable as it doesn't commence until winter and is not yet bookable, but SNN begins in May and it might be thought that it needs a bit of publicity as soon as possible.

There is a poster on the Dried Plum who seems to think the new summer services at Shannon, which includes BRS of course, will remain for the winter. If Knock is operating this winter then there must be a good chance that the same will happen with Shannon.

Thank you for that. I was thinking of a press release which the local written news media invariably publish as an article. There is nothing in the press release section of the airport's website, or news releases as they term them.

Winter 2018-2019

I don't know if everything has been loaded yet. All last winter's routes are there at the same frequencies except those listed below where frequencies have altered, plus some new routes*.

Currently the additions are thus:

Alicante 6 x weekly (+ 1 on 17/18)
Venice daily (+ 3 on 17/18)
Limoges* 2 x weekly (+ 2 on 17/18, has always previously been summer-only)
Knock* 3 x weekly (+ 3 on 17/18, has been a summer-only route since 2011, was year-round 2007-2011)
Valencia* 2 x weekly (+2 on 17/18, has always previously been summer-only)
Seville* 2 x weekly (+ 2 on 17/18, reinstated after being summer-only in 2010 and 2011)

Reduction

Arrecife 3 x weekly (- 1 on 17/18).

So far there are 12 more weekly rotations (total of 88) than in 17/18, an increase of 15.8%, and 4 more routes (24), an increase of 20%.

Looking at winter 18/19 and the four preceding ones it shows clearly how much Ryanair has increased its winter BRS offering, both in the number of rotations and in the number of routes.

In winter 14/15 there were 53 weekly rotations and 14 routes; in 15/16 55 and 15; in 16/17 69 and 19; in 17/18 76 and 20; in 18/19 88 and 24 (as things stand).

That means that in five years the number of weekly rotations has increased by 66% (35 more) and the number of routes by 71.4% (10 more).
