I wasn't a case of I thought there was a problem @JENNYJET more a case of making sure we haven't missed anything. Different browsers and different devices can create a different experience.

I'm proposing making some changes to Forums4airports.....

I am proposing moving [and merging] like for like airline forums into the main Airline Forum. This means forums for individual airports will no longer have specific airline threads as they will be merged into one section in the main Airline Forum.

Why do this...?
The aim of this is to remove repetition in the different airport forums and reduce thread sprawl within the individual airport forums allowing more airport specific threads to appear on the first page of each local airport forum.

What about airline posts that are specific to individual airports....?
This has been one of my main considerations into how this will work and obviously I don't want to reduce your viewing pleasure reading the forum. Many posts within airline threads also sit well in general threads. Other posts detailing more specific airline changes will sit well within your airport forum Route Development thread. It maybe that a new generic thread for different Airline Schedule Changes is required.

Here is an example of how a local airport forum might look:
Cardiff Airport - News (Press Releases)
Cardiff Airport - General Thread
Airline Schedule Changes [NEW thread]
Airport Experience - Questions & Reviews
Wizz Air - [MOVED to main Airline Forum]
CAA Provisional Stats
Ryanair - [MOVED to main Airline Forum]
Potential Routes
Rugby, Football Charters
Expected Movements
Cardiff Photo - Thread
Flybe - [MOVED to main Airline Forum]
^^^^^^^^Bump up from previous page^^^^^^^^
Infrastructure Developments
Airport Security & Immigration
Cardiff Airport Notams

The Airline Forum will incorporate all previous airline threads merged into one thread.

Wizz Air Cardiff / Wizz Air Leeds / Wizz Air Liverpool / Wizz Air Birmingham etc becomes Wizz Air - General Thread in the Airline Forum

Your views on these changes are appreciated....?
Please feel free to have your say on these changes.

Personally I think airline-specific threads per airport subforum are fine and match exactly what I'm interested in.

I personally don't care about what Wizz is doing in, say, Cardiff or Birmingham or Edinburgh, I just want to know what's happening at my local airport :)

I wouldn't want to follow such mega-threads that will mostly just contain noise for me then.

This is what makes forum4airports special for me and differentiates it from, say, PP*.org

I am the main contributor to my local airport ( LPL ) , generally there is little debate in the Liverpool forum, I hope some are interested even if they don't comment. I have noticed some of the busier forums ( LBA ) for example can be talking about other airports or routes from other airports, when really it would be perhaps be better if comments were posted in the relevant airport forums. I know there are 'airline specific threads' , you would be directing posters to these now ?

As I read all threads, I don't see that it will make any difference to me.
I think some people can be a little insular if they only read items of direct interest to them. It's surprising how each airport can be affected by what is happening at others.

This is really quite a big change so I would appreciate more feedback from everyone. If very few people share there thoughts I can only presume most people are happy. We need to make the right decision.

These are my thoughts.

One aspect that I haven’t seen mentioned is how we can refer back to historical posts if threads are merged. Not everyone does it but I am someone who is interested in seeing historical schedules and route development/rumours.

There’s also the issue of simultaneous discussions in different forums on the same airline. merged threads couldn’t simply be arranged in chronological order without say, posts from LBA and BHX followers being mixed up.

That is a good question and as far as I am aware the forum does order it in a way where previous links will continue to work. Maybe @Ashley.S. could confirm that?

It's good that Aviador, although the site owner, is prepared to seek the views of all the members rather than just imposing changes upon us.
Personally I like the way things are at present, however that's possibly because I look at each and every post (well I speed read them). The problems appears to be getting members to post in the right thread rather than "doing their own thing".

This is my biggest concern but do you think that may of the current posts would sit in a new thread under the name of Airline Schedule Changes or in your Route Development & Rumour thread within your local forum?

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ This for me too.

I can't see me sitting here trawling through endless posts about airports that I have absolutely no interest in just to find one line about something happening by me.

I totally understand that some like to read all forums about all airports to keep informed about what is going on but there are also some of us that have neither the time or inclination to do so.

If it happens then I'll respect the decision but it's a (n) from me.

This has been a huge problem in some parts of the forum. We also have a problem were users only report on a particular news story in one part of the forum when it's relevant in other areas too so other users will miss the news. If merging the airline threads isn't the answer then how do we prevent the above from happening?

It's also a NO from me, I come on to the forum to read stuff that interests me and that is BHX

Some people may think that is insular, however I also don't have the time to trawl through the Wizz Air general thread to see if anything applies to BHX. And correct me if im wrong but is that how it will work Aviador ? That might only take a few seconds for some people and not an issue, however as Im really sad and geeky, lol and a member of quite a few forums and social media, so time is important to me.

But thanks for consulting the forum Aviador

Posts will always be ordered in chronological order based on the time and date they have been posted. I will have to test and confirm if merged threads can retain a redirection or if it will error out. I suspect it will error out as "content not found" if all old threads are merged, so it might be advisable if this is implemented to leave the old threads where they are for a short period of time with the last post redirecting people to the new location for the discussion.

If you look through one of the airline threads and place each post into one of the following categories you'll get an idea on how many posts would remain within your local forum [BHX]

For example: Easyjet thread
Confirmed A21N

There should be more to come but not just cities
This would remain in the BHX forum in the Route Development & Rumours thread

Therefore implying sun routes. Will these be W patterns or from EU bases?
This would remain in the BHX forum in the Route Development & Rumour thread

Yeah a new route to LPA (Gran Canaria) would be great ??
This would remain in the BHX forum in the Route Development & Rumour thread

So the European easyJet bases we don't have flights to yet are:

Barcelona
Basel (EZY Swiss)
Berlin
Bordeaux
Lyon
Milan MXP (rumoured at some point)
Naples
Nice
Paris CDG & ORY (rumoured at some point)
Porto
Toulouse
Venice

Depends on your point of you, but I'd personally count all of them as cities.
This would remain in the BHX forum in the Route Development & Rumour thread

Hopefully Easyjet have a base here soon. Does Easyjet have any plans for the A319-NEO
This post might be better in the Easyjet thread in the Airline Forum

Whilst I read across the forum I personally think it best to keep the current format as I always go through the BHX posts first and then go through the rest afterwards.

Many members appear to want to just focus on their own local airport and likely loose interst to the detriment of the forum if they have to trawl through endless posts on route developments & rumours at say LBA or BHX while they are looking for information on CWL or LPL.

I actually think around 70% of posts would remain within the local forums with only around 30% moving to the Airline Forum

The only difference is new posts would be split between Route Development & Rumour and Airline Schedule Changes instead of multiple airline threads.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
