Does anyone know the reason why the 777 isn't coming in? (of cause it hasn't been officially confirmed yet that its not). Is the aircraft needed elsewhere on a different route?

Certain operational obligations outstanding. Flights off sale after Saturday whilst the action plan is agreed. Very much a wait and see job. Safe to say don't expect to see the 777 next week.

When I looked on the PIA website a few days after the 777 was announced, it showed the 777 as the aircraft and that there was only 1 business class seat left. Assuming the PIA business class is bigger than the A310, there are going to be some unhappy customers and I am sure the same will apply to those in Economy- such as Harehills you is due to fly out with his family. I don't know when, or if, the 777 will ever turn up now, but I do know it isn't coming next week.

As White Heather has pointed out absolutely nothing from the Airport PR department.
Maybe they are waiting for PIA to confirm their plans before making any announcement.

Well, what a strange turn of events?!

To go from upgrading a route to suspending it, couldn't be 2 more polar opposites if you tried!

Any reason the A310 is not continuing to be used until April 3rd rather than suspend it?

However, what worries me is that this has echo's of their GLA flights written all over it, and we all know what has happened there.....

Route is now back on sale. Boeing 777 provisionally from 3rd April but this could well be subject to change.

empire I don’t know if you able to divulge anymore than you have said so far on here but is there any chance you could shed any further details as to what’s going on

The situation seems to be fluid and changing by the hour, Somebody has already previously asked on here why have PIA chosen to suspend the service completely for 3 weeks instead of carrying on using the A310's until April 3rd. It just seems daft to me for PIA to effect all them booked passengers and to have to rearrange there travelling plans at such a time when bookings are high?

Perhaps my post wasn't clear the route continues with A310 equipment from now until April, provisionally the 777 starting on the 3rd.

That is in accordance with what I understand too, that the 777 is postponed only. I have no date from which it is scheduled, but nothing to indicate route suspension. Me thinks an announcement by airline, LBA or both is very much required to explain as soon as things are sorted out.

So now i need some advice. The A310 is massively overbooked on the 13 th March. How do i ensure that i'm not left behind. Will it be first come first served or just random. Thanks in advance for your help.

You should contact PIA in regards to your options, they will be able to let you know. As for the 777 i was told at work yesterday its not coming at all now and we are likely loosing the service.

I was talking to a friend of mine who works at the airport today, and he said that the 777 wouldn't be coming at all. Don't know whether that's the rumour mill working overtime and him passing on incorrect info or not....but at least some people at the airport seem to think that....

You can say that however they sustain a lot of jobs, especially for my company. How valuable they are to the airport im not so sure however i don't think it would do it justice to loose the service completely.

I have just been on the PIA website for July (outbound) and August (inbound) and flights are still on sale and are shown as operating by a Boeing 777 200. That guarantees nothing of course. However I would have thought if they had taken a decision to pull the 777 completely, or pull off the route, they wouldn't be taking bookings for so far ahead. Hopefully, some information will be given at the Consultative Meeting on Thursday.

PIA really do need to let all the catchment areas as mentioned by White Heather that the route equipment has been upgraded.

Further to the above posts regarding the performance of the route.

Why does this route need to reprove its self?

The route has already done this.

I chose not to reply to this post at the time as I had a feeling the right time to do so would arise. This is the right time. The whole reason I said that the route must prove itself with a 777 is down to a number of things: passenger numbers, weather, operational ability and, the biggest dilemma of all, PIA themselves. Unless all of those things are working together in unison, the route, with a T7, is unproven. I hope that, with recent issues with the airline, you may think about the bigger picture before passing off the comments of others as codswallop.

I would love more than anybody see a 777 at LBA , I truly believe that LBA has the market
Leeds , Wakefield , Sheffield , Humberside right up to Teesside any beyond.
My feelings are that for an airline to make this work and I mean " hit the ground running" it takes precise planning ( I have operated as crew from ISB many many times and it is ofter total chaos ) , lots of research , consistent communication with the airport and
overall commitment. So far PIA have no exactly set the world alight with these points.
I can assure you , I am aware of the " big picture".
It also requires a stable market and a marketable catchment area which is already in place and potentially customers.
My statement was not about the 777 it was about the current route statistics.
You may wish to carefully read again , you may notice "777" is not mentioned...my references simply pointed out that this route has so far worked and has proven itself
as profitable. The next stage is a larger aircraft.

Im sure it's no surprise to let you know the flight is fully booked tomorrow 12J 172Y. I wonder how many passengers PIA have had to transfer to other flights with the ensuing 777 fiasco....

I wonder how many PIA have told that they are not flying on the 777 now? Probably none at all. Still, it is good that the aircraft is fully loaded, as the better the bookings, the better the chances of seeing the 777 at LBA - unless of course PIA decide to pull the route completely again,
