Without trolling back through the thread, wasn't there talk of a return of the 757 for next summer?

They quoted an increase in capacity for Summer 2017 when it was launched in 2016 and it was rumoured that it would be no extra flights but a B757 operating. Obviously it didn't happen, a lot of pax who were loyal to Thomson are now loyal to Jet2 for their hols.

I laughed when I heard this from one spotter but actually don’t know how plausible it is. Apparently TUI wanted to bring a 757 for the summer but the airport said no, as there aren’t enough 757 capable stands alongside Jet2.

I know you can’t park a 757 on 9 & 10 simultaneously but are there further restrictions?

Looks like Tui are going to add ‘something’ to Austria for Summer18. Yesterday ‘Austria’ appeared on the destination menu. Today dates are now showing from Saturday 9th June-Saturday 15th September but no destination.
Do I remember someone saying FlyMayBe are operating a Dash to Innsbruck this Summer? Perhaps they’ve just got an allocation on that.

I guess the might be taking an allocation on Inghams Holidays weekly Saturday charter flight to Innsbruck, Which next summer 2018 is planned to be operated by Flybe, Embrear 175.

I've noticed that the TFS flight is not operating tomorrow and on checking the Thomson website, the next departure is not whilst 9 Feb. Was this planned initially or have they just cancelled 4 flights and transferred the pax to MAN/EMA/DSA?

The same is happening at CWL. TFS is 3x weekly although for 5 weeks between 16th Jan and 20th Feb, the Tuesday flight isnt bookable so probably transfer them to the Mon or Fri flight. I believe this happened last winter also for the same period!

The Jan-Feb 5 week gap for TUi's Tenerife service has been scheduled for a long while now. Aircraft positioned out of Leeds empty last Friday.. I do believe this has happened in the past before so its not a new thing that's started to happen!

May be worth mentioning that the next five or so weeks is also a relatively quiet period for Jet2. The company was naturally busy over Christmas and New Year; things are plodding along now until the half-term holidays brings the next 'spike' of activity. Then comes Easter and the new summer season. Before we know it the May Day BH is upon us and summer proper has arrived.

Back to TUI. As far as I am aware, it has operated in Jan 2017; 2016; 2014; 2013; Can't find my records for 2015.

Still a lot more than we have had in years gone by though! This is where we need routes like Sharm, Cape Verde and even maybe Orlando

None of those destinations should be out of the question for LBA. I think Cape Verde was mentioned on the Bristol forum recently as a new offering. I think it was Tui, could be wrong.

Cape Verde (Sal) has been operating weekly year-round with TUI from BRS since 2015 with B757 aircraft - will be upgraded to a B787 this year. TUI had announced a second Cape Verde route (Boa Vista) to commence next winter but that one seems to have been pulled from their booking engine in recent weeks.

BRS will see the return of Hurghada this summer (with both TUI and TCX) but no Sharm yet. TUI also operates weekly B787 summer routes to both Cancun and Sanford, Orlando from BRS with Punta Cana beginning this summer in addition.

LBA would be capable of operating all these routes given the chance.

And there is the key Local Yokel. Given the chance.............; and with MAN over the hill, and the DSA base down the A1, being given that chance is the problem. The 787 is not a problem from LBA's runway, just as it isn't at BRS either. The problem is persuading TUi to invest in LBA when doing so is sure to have some impact on their ops from DSA and MAN - particularly DSA.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
