Yes, they've already been on the airport website.

Lets hope for more flights then! ;)

With the 787's coming on line for Thomson in the not too distant future, they would be the perfect aircraft for a long-haul program from LBA.. Just a thought!

I wonder if Thomson's big expansion at LBA being announced tomorrow will affect operations at DSA.

I wonder if they may operate the MON flights themselfs & then add more flights so an aircraft is based here all week, or maybe long haul!.. I wish!

Ap1995, you could be right. Perhaps Thomson are looking to use their own aircraft for a much expanded program, with Thomas Cook utilising the Monarch aircraft for their program? Or perhaps Thomas Cook are waiting for Thomson to make an announcement and would buy seats that way, much like they do at DSA?

I'm sure things will be a lot clearer in the morning.

Hopefully this isn't just going to be a re-spun headline of the additional flights already announced by Thomson for next summer, in the hope of it boosting bookings further. Fingers crossed its something more exciting!

If as Aviador has already said, the flights we already know about have been announced on the airport website, then I dont see why they would be so hush hush about tomorrows announcement?

Rumours circulating that it's a based aircraft by all accounts, with the addition of a whole selection of routes...

I know no more than that.. :s_dunno

[textarea]Thomson to announce Leeds Bradford expansion

Thomson and First Choice are to expand destinations served from Leeds Bradford airport.

The Tui Travel operators are due to announce a “substantial increase” in holiday choices for customers from the Yorkshire region.

Details of the plans are due to emerge tomorrow morning (Thursday) at a press conference to be held at the airport.

No other information was available ahead of the formal announcement.

I can't see Thomsons embarking on an even bigger expansion that has already been released. I think it will be a formal launch of the new routes already announced.

I was just getting all excited Seasider! I hope you are wrong, although I hate to admit you might be right, simply as it seems odd to release news of new routes in April and then release another lot in June. Mind you, it is equally odd waiting 2 months to have a formal press release. Its all becoming a mystery to me - are we sure Ken Bates hasn't taken over LBA?

Surely they wouldnt be coming up to announce the routes from back in April, it doesnt make sense, LBA have already offically announced it and with Monarch rumoured to be setting up a base TOM will see them as competition and may bring in their own mental for S13 to go into direct compeition with MON. But hopefully a based aircraft and new routes will be announced tommorow.

It all seems odd considering the LBA website is already advertising new Thomson routes thought to be operating by Monarch. Looking back at the press release it does actually say with Thomson's own aircraft though. Here's the original press release....

Carl Gissing, Director of Customer Service for Thomson Airways said: “We are delighted to announce our new routes for Summer 2013 from Leeds Bradford Airport to Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt), Dalaman (Turkey), Enfidha (Tunisia) and Paphos (Cyprus). This demonstrates our firm commitment to Leeds Bradford as part of our UK regional airport network. Source: http://www.leedsbradfordairport.co.uk/a ... -expansion

Have we been assuming Monarch will be operating the Thomson flights when actually Thomson's are. Also, this would mean Monarch are operating for other companies(Thomas Cook perhaps?) If that is the case then why suggest there's "massive expansion"of the Thomson operation as the TravelWeekly suggest? Could this be the launch of the second edition brochure? (or whatever number they're up to)

Maybe some long haul flights with their shiny new 787's. They won't have any competitors.

Thomson Airways has announced another 4 more routes out of Leeds Bradford, starting from Summer 2013 :

Mahon, Ibiza, Tenerife South & Rhodes. plus additional frequencies on existing flights to Majorca and Dalaman along with the already announced holiday flights to Enfidha, Sharm el Sheikh, Paphos and Corfu.

This makes 10 destinations departing from LBIA oprtated by a based aircraft next sunmer

Fantastic news!!! Finally Thomson have realised they cannot afford to ignore LBA any longer!

Looks like the MON aircraft could be used for TCX ops now...

All in all, this has made my day! :drinks:

Well it looks like LBA have gone full circle with Thomson Holidays now after they pulled out and set up the base down the road at DSA leaving LBA with just a hand full of flights w-legs to Palma and Corfu in the summer and Tenerife in the winter..

First they announce that they will be coming back next summer with part based programme operated by Monarch on 6 routes, Now we get a full weekly based aircraft flying programme with 12 weekly flights to 10 destinations.

I wonder what Peel and DSA are thinking now after today's news?

Monday
Dalaman = 10:00-16:15 / 17:15-19:45
Tuesday
Palma = 07:00-10:35 / 19:35-21:15 (Aircraft w-legs to Teeside)
Wednesdays
Mahon = 07:45-11:15 / 12:15-13:50
Cyprus-Paphos = 15:20-22:00 / 23:15-02:15*
Thursday
Ibiza = 06:00-09:40 / 10:40-12:20
Sharm el Sheikh = 13:50-20:15 / 21:15-02:05*
Friday
Corfu = 06:45-12:00 / 13:00-14:30
Dalaman = 15:55-22:10 / 23:10-01:05*
Saturday
Palma = 07:30-11:05 / 12:10-14:00
Rhodes = 15:30-21:40 / 22:40-01:05*
Sunday
Enfidha = 06:00-09:25 / 10:25-13:50
Tenerife-South = 15:25-19:55 / 20:55-01:05*

On the Thomson Website the new flight have been said that the operator has not being decided yet, so could be TOM or could be MON, im not sure about the original flights but hopefully we have a TOM & MON base for 2013

The turnaround times are quite generous with 90minutes so I'm guessing something along the lines of a B757...

Can't see them offering that much time for a B738...

This Summer CFU is currently being operated by a 757 along with PMI which has now being downgraded to a 738 for mid summer, whilst the TFS & SSH for Winter is being operated by a 757, so hopefully nothing less then a 757 will operate!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
