I think I should let you all know that there was a vaild reason for todays Thomson Airways delay.

Boeing 767-300WL, G-OOAN arrived into Manchester late this morning inbound on the scheduled TOM137 service from Montego Bay. She was due into MAN at 06:25 but did'nt land until about 07:50

Hence the reason why she did'nt make her planned ontime 07:45 departure and turned up at LBA later than planned.

I see tui Thomson Hoildays have now comfirmed that they will retain there direct LBA services to Egypt's Sharm el Sheikh and Tenerife Soutg for next winter 2011/12 season.

Flights will be operated as same as this year with a part based aircraft operating to Sharm on Thursdays and Tenerife on a Fridays.

That's good news and assuming the Boeing 737-800 will be back then there shouldn't be many diversion issues. Thomson's are clearly making the right decisions at last.

Hi

Read elsewhere that LBIA's mangerment are expecting tui Thomson Airways to upgrade the aircraft type on weekly Summer Thursday, Palma-Majorca service. As things stand the flight is due to be operated by a Boeing 757-200 but it may now be operated by wide-bodied, Boeing 767-300ER aircraft instead

A major coup for the airport if they manage to pull this one-off with Thommo's...

It is indeed, but the demand should be there to support this particularly on the Palma route. It is not as though LBA hasn't had a 767 before in the Britannia days, although that was only a 200 series and during the months of May - July only.

All will be revealed when the schedule is uploaded to ANA Aviation, whenever that might be. Shouldn't be too long now!

They're probably to replace 757s to be honest - they're getting on a bit now! Leeds has a high chance of seeing them, due to Thomson flying 737s in but I think the bulk of them will go to existing bases. Though article specifically said Bournemouth, Doncaster, East Midlands and Luton in the Winter, and some Manchester and Gatwick flying over the Summer.

Is the Boeing 767 confirmed does anybody know and also if it is when does it operate.

I have learnt only today that Thomson's have scrapped SSH because of a drop in forward bookings.

xboy999 I'm sending you a PM.

They have also dropped one of the two weekly Doncaster flights in the winter, along with LBA, Teesside, Norwich and Bournemouth, all for the same reason. A lack of forward bookings.

Still possible to book flights on Mondays and Thursdays, so if they are dropping one, then they better get a move on! I can't book anything for the others you mention though. I presume the DSA flight will be replaced with something else, assuming SSH is dropped, otherwise the based aircraft will be sat around doing nothing all day.

I would imagine they will either cancel one and try and fill up the other. I suppose it is a long way off. and should bookings take a rise then they will keep it on. If it gets chopped, then I suppose a Tenerife is always a winter favourite to add.

This will be an overall loss of bookings, not just inadequate bookings at the airports where flights have been dropped. In other words, due to a downturn in bookings across the boards, Thomson have consolidated, operating flights from their base airports and dropping most, if not all, of those from non-base airports. Lets hope that they do replace the SSH flights with something else from each of those airports - after all, they must have seen this as a possible result of the unrest out there and hopefully they have something planned instead. A flight from LBA to the Canaries wouldn't go amiss!

Believe it or not, Alicante is a very popular winter route for TOM, asked my firend yesterday, and he said it very rarely goes out of DSA with more than 4-5 seats spare.

I would be very suprised if they position an aircraft to either Leeds or Dtv to operate a single flight on a weekly basis from each airfield, so I would expect a replacement destination or a total withdrawal.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
