I think you're missing my point. The minute Ryanair suddenly see, through various different agencies, that it can sell packages to the masses (they already do but not that awake) and the profit/ revenue from that TUI will be dropped.

And how good are those city breaks with TUI/ Ryanair? It goes wrong on Ryanair it'll hardly do any good for TUI's rep.
But Ryanair has tried doing the package holiday before and it didn't work for them.
As for Ryanair reliability tbf they're one of the better airlines for getting you to your destination.
And if you look at the TUI website the destinations they offer are
Dubrovnik
Paris
Crete
Ionian islands
Riga
Montenegro
Amsterdam
Gdansk
Krakow
Warsaw
Porto
Faro
Bucharest
Spain and Canary Islands
Antalya
The bulk of them are operated by Ryanair, Amsterdam by KLM, Antalya by Sun Express but if they didn't use those airlines most of those destinations wouldn't be offered by them and surely that would be to the detriment of LBA as an airport.

Ryanair use OTA/On the beach. It’s mutually beneficial. And they’ll expand that rapidly over the next 5/10 years given that they cannot ignore the easyJet holiday growth etc. Again as I say leaves TUI out in the open.

Ryanair may have brilliant performance. I cannot knock them. But I’ll say this … when it goes wrong it really goes wrong. And that when TUI will need to damage control but it’s harder when it’s 3rd party airline to damage control.

How so? How much feed is on those flights? 20% of those flights depart with a TUI customer on. Doubtful. I doubt on some flights you will have even 10 passengers on who belong to TUI.

You ask majority of public about a city break from LBA…. It’ll be Ryanair / Jet2 seat and Air BnB OR Jet2 city breaks. Beach … fair enough to only an extent. And if TUI really wanted to expand into LBA own metal is better for quality control.

Trust me I’m all for TUI but they need to reevaluate their operation and growth. They’ll be left up stream without a puddle if they continue to rely on Ryanair etc cause they’ll figure out how to make more money without having TUI contract. May make in the interim but won’t work long term. And that should worry us all.

Well it looks like no TUI expansion our 3x routes remains on non-based aircraft. So something Blue must be something else.

Summer 2027
Tui Airways
Corfu = 1x weekly (Fri)
Dubrovnik = 1x weekly (Thu)
Palma -3x weekly (Tue, Sat & Sun)
Sun Express
Antalya = 5x weekly Mom, Wed & Fri-Sun)
And no sign of DSA on their 2027 departure list.😀

Seen in the TUI shop at Birstall Retail Park. Christmas market and a spa day, 3 nights. From LBA I hear you ask? You’re joking of course, Manchester yet again!

No, check the TUI website. They offer 3x weekly Bucharest flights and hotels throughout the year from LBA. This is because, in addition to their own airline, they also utilise seats onboard other carriers, such as Ryanair in this case.

This means you can book a TUI getaway from LBA to a wide selection of destinations - Paris, Amsterdam, Porto, Barcelona, Valencia, Poland, Romania, Latvia, Chania and Faro for a start.

This looks like the way forward for TUi. They've now scrapped flights from MAN to Faro and passengers will fly on Easyjet.
Must be saving up aircraft so they can open a TUi mega base at DSA!!

It's something they've always done though. By using other carriers they can offer a range of destinations that they wouldn't necessarily offer from many airports otherwise.

The city breaks you can book with TUI from LeedsBradford are Paris, Riga, Amsterdam, Gdansk, Krakow, Warsaw, Porto, Bucharest, Barcelona and Valencia.
There's also Dubrovnik and Zadar depends on whether you count them as city breaks.

Point taken but why not promote those instead of this Manchester offering?

When we first started booking flights over 30 years ago we booked through a travel agent in Ilkley and if my memory is correct all the flights were booked through Avro ?? and flights tended to be on either Monarch, Air2000 or Caledonian. I'm guessing what Tui are now doing is similar to what Avro used to do???

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
