It began in the 1980s when I worked at Lbia as a ground aircraft engineer. I knew the Leeds area Thomson Manager and he confirmed the dislike the airline had for Lbia. They thought when Doncaster opened all the Leeds clients would go there instead. No doubt it is a much better all round airport to operate from but Jet 2 and the new airport marketing team at Lbia have done a great job in proving them wrong.

Looks like they are having problems this morning. An aircraft positioned from Dublin early this morning and the flight to Corfu is delayed until 1000 and a positioning flight to Dublin was supposed to depart at 0800.
I also saw a Jet 2 B737-300 arrive early this morning.

Our based aircraft C-FLZR just departed to Dublin. It does seem that Dublin is a higher priority than Lbia operations.

hi there 300boy
it does make you wonder if Thompson ops have got a downer on lbia, the lba pax just don't seem to matter to them,i hope the pax have been made aware of what is going on get into them for compo.
regards

On LBA arrivals It looks like Thomson have cancelled their inbound Dalaman service but on the departures it still says checking in, I could only imagine the disappointment of the passengers if it is cancelled, especially at this time of year.

There were 2 x Thomson/Sunwing aircraft parked up this morning.

Leeds based Sunwing Boeing 738, C-FLZR arrived inbound from SHH the positioned out to DUB mid morning. Meanwhile Thomson Airways Boeing 738, G-TAWD positioned in to from DUB and operated the delayed CFU service and will now night stop to become the Leeds based aircraft for the time been. This is due to a tech Sunwing Aircraft and canadian aircraft not been allowed to be operated by UK based crews.

The LBA arrivals board for today shows two TOM arrivals within 10 minutes this afternoon - one from Tenerife (TOM3749) and the other from Dalaman (TOM699). It looks like we are getting one or the other from another airport for operational reasons of some description. Anyone know why please and which airport it originated from?

The TOM3749 is actually our Tenerife flight from last night. Pax were bussed over to Manchester and flown out around 00:30 instead of 15:20. They must be returning pax direct to LBA instead of bussing them back from MAN!.

The delayed inbound TOM3749 service from Tenerife is now no longer showing on the LBA live arrivals anymore.

After checking the Thomson Holidays flight arriavls webpage it shows the flight operating into Manchester now, So the disgruntled pax will now have the added pleasure of a bus ride over the M62 to Leeds/Bradford. http://flights.thomson.co.uk/thomson/en ... ghtNumber=

Just adds more reason for me not to choose a Thomson Airways flight due to there reputation out of Leeds/Bradford.

You have said it all ! You use Thomson from Lbia at your own risk of being messed about when things go wrong. Nothing has changed over the last 30 years or so they always seem put Lbia operations as the lowest priority.
i would only use them if no one else operates to the destination I wish to go.

[textarea]The new teddy bear check-in at Leeds Bradford

Thomson Airways has started a ‘teddy bear check-in’ for children at Leeds Bradford Airport.

The company, which initially gave children tags to put round their toys have expanded the service to include a VIB passport (very important bear)for those wanting to take their bears onboard.

There is a marketing publication on the airport website today launching the 2014 Thomson and First Choice programme. Within it, they say they are committed to expanding choice from LBA - yet they have axed Menorca and Sharm. I am not sure what they are replacing them both with - I recall a 2nd Corfu flight? From where I am sitting though it appears to be a reduction in choice, not an expansion?

They mite aswell not bother at LBA at all with what they offer now, it not much better at donny, its all about manchester with thomson.

Agreed to an extent, they can't even provide a proper Thomson aircraft. Does anyone know if this will change for next year?
Having said that I suppose a Sunwing aircraft is better than nothing!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
