No not Humphrey. Just happened to have spent more than 46 years in Local Government. And I saw how things happened in both Local and National government. I must admit at times I had to do things first and then let it leak out as to what needed doing. It's a well practiced art form!!

I agree with what you mean Aviador, but the elephant in the room is the phrase `Subject to change`. That is the worst case scenario especially for say airline planning. The Government could say we expect to by a certain date..plans go ahead. Airlines spend money on such plans, including accomodation abroad (subject to the usual caveats) then a week before the virus makes it impossible for such plans to go ahead.

At that point we could be back to wash/rinse/spin and repeat. My personal view is that until there is something firmer than we have at present with this wretched virus, then firm dates or clarity whatever you call it need to be avoided, in case of giving false hope, followed by greater agonies. The lesser of evils for sure though.

Boris's whole roadmap strategy is subject to change and I think people accept that. The problem here is the aviation sector hasn't been included in his strategy so nobody is any wiser. Include air travel to the plan and at least people have something to work with.

It is my belief that European travel should be possible even if further afield isn't. Having flights to Europe where we're all at a similar stage should be plausible. Travel to say Africa where there's limited known about the scale of the virus and it's probably not a good idea.

The UK CAA has relaxed the rules on General Aviation activities in the England. (Dose not include Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland) Hopefully this may mean the airfield's operating hours are re-extended and we see some visitors to LBA.

Can't see it making the slightest difference to LBA. The aiport had already started closing apart from the 2 day before the government announced the clamp down on general aviation. Can you see the owners of LBA wanting to open for a couple of PA-28s a week.

I guess it will depend if Multiflight and Heilds aviation want to restart fixed wing flying. Also if Jet2 need to start flight crew training before restarting ops.

With the way that connectivity at LBA is going, you do wonder whether getting hold of some very cheap-to-lease Q400s and type-rated crews, painting them silver and red and flying them as Dart2 to the likes of Belfast, Amsterdam, Paris, Dusseldorf, Jersey, Newquay, Knock, Hamburg, Berlin, Copenhagen, Bordeaux and more may be the last hope! EMA could do with the same....and I don't think SOU would say no either.

Won't we need Heralds rather than Q400 for an airline to be named Dart2! The idea is good but unfortunately no one is going to be investing in much aviation expansion for a long time. As I have said previously, please put this in perspective - LBA is far from alone and we will bounce back. As a population We have too much of a thirst for travel. It's a blip, albeit a major lengthy one, but a blip it is

no one is going to be investing in much aviation expansion for a long time.

Nobody really knows for sure. This isn't your standard recession. It isn't something that was started because of aviation either so no immediate discouragement to fly specifically. The country's economy was put on hold, it hasn't died so until the lockdown has ended we won't know the full extent of the financial impact. It annoyed me the other day when the BBC and other news agencies were saying how much the economy had shrunk, but it's impossible to say just yet with half the country furloughed, hopefully, those jobs will still be there when everything reopens.
