I thought they’d planed to start this October as it was brought forward by the collapse of Stobart air.

I’ve seen one of their aircraft not that long ago fly from Exeter-Dublin. EI-GPP one of the ATR72s that worked for stobart air. Maybe an indication they’re getting prepared for starting operations in the near future.

They had a proving flight recently that is required to get their AoC (Air Operator's Certificate), which has now been granted.

Simpleflying (6 September) reports that Emerald operated successful proving flight last Friday. Seems to be paving way for earlier than announced start. No definitive announcement on destinations, except "they will operate all those served by Stobart".

Callsign GEMSTONE, flight designator EAI.

Could it perhaps be a change of senior management at BA letting some new light shine on BHX? King, Thompson, Walsh and Cruz, all gone, fresh eyes and attitudes can often permit fresh thinking on services and routes. BA is undoubtedly a prickly outfit and needs gardening gloves when handling them.

Well this is BA Cityflyer and they have in the past done more regional stuff than BA mainline so may well look at things with different eyes.

And the majority of their flights were for businessmen ex LCY. Hence the aircraft being underutilised at weekends.

Perhaps those in the City who used to fly to Paris, etc now have Zoom meetings instead!

Great to see a part of BA returning ... its a small start. Now is a good chance to start to winning airlines and routes back after covid. Im sure the airport team are well on the case.

I am hoping we get a Heathrow flight link as well from British Airways same as Manchester - demand is high and some flights to USA and Canada as well as Eastern Europe - this is great news British Airways in the second city and Common Wealth Games 2022 Birmingham

Also talking about BACF do they have any plans to renew there fleet ? Some of these Embraer aircraft must be due for renewal soon. Do they have any next generation Embraer’s on order or even the Airbus A220 ?

In 2020, they had plans to get rid of all E170, except one.

Also had plans to increase E190s to 30, but it's now anticipated only 2 will arrive, taking total to 24.

The source, londonairtravel.com, has updated some of the BA fleet information, but there's nothing more recent for Cityflyer.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
