Brownairfrom 1 April 1985. APEX FARES (RETURN) Frankfurt £95. Oslo, the afternoon use of the same plane which I used until it ceased - £129.
They were always full, with the toliet facilities, errm,, basic, but hey!
Where's my violin!?
At least the toilets weren't outside as on Yorkshire International Airways' ex Monarch Bristol Britannia flown from Leeds International Airstrip by Captain Boycott!

Airport facilities are not very high on an airline’s agenda when looking at potential destinations. Many Greek airports are pretty basic. It’s all about catchment and the economics of a route.

The proximity of MAN sadly counts against LBA and seat only to ATH is not always a gold mine because of the availability of IT flights to major Greek islands.

They shouldn't count but they do. (Terminal facilities) LBA and its 60s terminal are a special case. I believe LBA would better suit an Aegean Athens route than Newcastle. The Manchester effect counts less and less each year as the M62 more resembles a car park than a motorway.

It might help if the airport website destination list was up to date. Of the recent additions only Bucharest has been added. Little things like this are an irritant. The marketing team should be all over things like this to maximise route awareness. All well and good trying to attract routes, but you should keep things up to date for the ones you’ve got.

Route wise, I’m hoping that Play to KEF comes off- all very quiet. I’m also hoping for Cape Verde from Jet2holidays and potentially a return to Egypt. I would also love Eilat-Ramon or Aqaba, but I think those are pushing my luck 😀

I wrote to LBA about this and they said that whilst they can remove destinations from the destinations list immediately, adding them isn't straightforward due to some weirdness or other built into the system, which LBA sounded very frustrated about. Somewhat typical of all things to do with the LBA website generally..

Humm!

I wonder if LBA could be seeing its UK domestic network trippeling in size next summer with a few routes making a welcome return?

Fly-Maybe is the word on the street AGAIN!

Having just been 'forced' to book a BA flight to LHR from Manchester (with onward BA connection) I would like some clarity from LBA/BA on the status of the 'suspended' LHR-LBA route.

I've heard from several contacts that discussions had taken place regards British Airways and it's suspended LHR-LBA route, but so far nothing has come of them for unexplained reasons.
I was really hopeful with latest update seen as most countries around the world are now reopened after Covid (Not China). But still nothing is showing sadly.

Airports are regularly in talks with numerous airlines, but talks don't always result in services. With regard to LHR, as post COVID recovery continues, slots will become more and more valuable. Therefore, airlines will use those slots for routes that provide the highest profits.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
