Yes, you are right it was a Spanish Metro 111 that overturned at Cork,. It was on a flight from Belfast at the time. OOps. I was just trying to point our that another airline Manx 2 did operate from LBA to Cork. Just my octogenarian mind jumble mixing memories up!

Did they? I only recall Manx2 operating to the Isle of Man. I may also be suffering from memory dusfunction, but I only recall Aer Arrann /Aer Lingus and BMi operating from LBA to Cork?

I don’t remember manx2 ever operating LBA-ORK.

Aer arann, bmi regional and aer lingus have tried.
Good point, I do recall the accident at Cork but I don't think it had anything to do with flights from LBA.

Manx2 was serving LBA-IOM around the same time but not flying to ORK.

In anycase, yes it would be great to have an airline back on the route.

Do we have the Irish population in the Leeds region/North east to warrant that? Bear in mind Liverpool has a huge Irish contingent due to the links from yesteryear. Manchester can naturally sustain it given its Manchester.

But can we? I've always thought a Cork/Kerry link in Summer with Ryanair would be good.

Absolutely loads of Irish and Irish descendents.in Leeds, me included. The Hunslet area saw many Irish immigrants in the late 1800s and early 1900s as there was plenty of industry in the area.

@tonysmith I am trying to resist posting or reacting to much just now for that very reason but just couldn’t resist in resist in relation to your post. I probably shouldn’t even say there is no arm in having our wrists slapped!

And coming from the Avatar I have too!

Joking aside, I do hope we have some genuine new route news to share soon. If all is to be believed there appears to be a few things bubbling away in the background so let's hope they come to fruition.

@Scottie Dog you see how quickly I can overcome frustrations (so everyone knows this is an in-joke between the two of us following some PMs)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
