Rather interesting BBC Northwest i-player report on airport, lasts about 20 mins. Showcases T2 transformation and responds to flawed Which Report. Very impressive drone footage, shows extent Pier 2 and dual taxiway work. You can tell probably only another 10 months work or so left. Well worth watching. No doubt further developments will continue following end of T2 rebuild
Any chance of a link for those of us outside the region?

Any pictures of Echo taxiway work between pier B and C? See started demolition of main hanger for new Jet 2 one- see Simon Lowe Aviation on Utube Will there be provision for new remote stands following clearance of all old hangers and sheds I wonder? Had a thought other day...suspect Pier B and C will be integrated in Terminal 3 , utilising old T1 buildings. I suspect might only demolish T1 multistorey, old tower plus block and old ops tower- both eyesores! Might as well rename T3 to T1 in the future! Thoughts or analysis folks? What did people think of Sir Roger Johnson's BBC documentary on the transformation project?!

If you do a google search or look over on the skyscraper city forum, you should be able to see the new dual taxiway works.
The works are on-going in various areas until 20th December at the moment, which coincides with the Christmas holidays, so will need to wait until then to see what new notices are declared ref the works into 2025.

Ref the air livery hanger demolition and others, I assume the plan is to rebuild all of these buildings, certainly the case for the air livery building, which Jet2 will build a new hanger in it’s place to be integrated into their existing maintenance hanger.

Piers B & C will be closing by all accounts by the autumn of 2025 once easyJet transfer to T2.
MAG have already announced they will rename T1 departures as T3 but unsure if eventually T3 will be come T1…maybe if we get another new terminal, but this surely will be well into the future (2030’s onwards).

Next job post the completion of the MAN TP, is the refurbishment and realignment of T3…

Nice pictures Marni, thanks - couple more updates, Zone A check in area is all closed off for refurb ( word from the cleaners is this is to be the new Emirates check in area) and another travelator on the Skylink is now working leaving just the 2 nearest to T2 to be finished.

Will Easyjet be using new Pier 2? Going to be taking up alot of stands? Seems ludicrous to mothball Pier C, with multiple airbridged wide body stands. Can't see how see Pier 2 can take on loss of all stands from Pier B and C. Thanks for sharing shots and links

Eventually, yes. They are scheduled to move over to T2 during autumn 2025 in one go!
Yes I agree ref pier C, but it would need a refurbishment both inside and out, I know it would potentially only easyJet using the stands/gates, however, it’s well dated and if there is no plan or funds to refurbish then it might as well close in my opinion!

EasyJet will end up using bus gates like TUI. Apparently it's pot luck if you get a gate at T2 at the moment during the morning rush. T1 is not fit for purpose any more they need Pier C gone to make way for future Pier 3 and 4 construction at T2. Pier 2 will have Emirates and Etihad. Will be interesting to see if MAG start grouping airlines into alliances for Pier 1 and 2. I know BA are moving next year also so they will have some kind of domestic set up in T2.

Yes, it's inevitably that at the moment and until the overall TP completion in summer 2025, there's a high chance of getting a remote gate if your a passenger on a widebody aircraft.
Pier C will only be in the way of a future Pier 4, so Pier 3 can certainly be built without any demolition of the current T1 piers (although I think piers B & C should be demolished anyway to make way for a future expanded T3 possibly).
BA will be one of the last airlines to transfer over to T2 once the new domestic arrivals facility is completed (location seems to be unknown at the moment, I can't find any info online ref this).

I'd need to do a deep search but I seem to recall a location being shown in some very old diagrams. I might have an update later this week for you.

I can't see Easyjet using Pier 2, there have to make provision for bused gates. Will be more hassle. Just retain pier B for Easyjet. Pier C is up for chop tbh and thinking about it more. They could use remote gates on spare apron left!

If they build Pier 3 I doubt satalliate at end of C would survive, no point leaving half a pier, demo the lit!
!

Again, the satellite wouldn’t interfere with pier 3. If it remained in use it would loose gate 31 and the other 3 would have smaller aircraft allocated to them but it can stay standing and not be in the way of pier 3 or taxiway hotel.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
