G-DRTU arrived at BHX at 00:11 pity they didn't use EMA for whatever reason as the passengers will no doubt be delighted as they drove right past East Mids maybe catching a glimpse of Jet2 tails lined up 45 minutes after leaving Birmingham.

EMA is open as a TUI 737 landed at 00:37.

Probably all to do with where they have Jet2 ground staff still working. I dont suppose they'd want to extend a shift at EMA for one divert. You'd imagine that there's more going on at BHX than at EMA this time of year but its a shame that LBA weren't able to hang on until 0030 when it would have arrived. However, if contractors are involved it can get messy. It won't be the last time sadly but these maintenance closures are a fact of life at all single runway airports.

Yep I agree that Jet2 would have a reason and planned runway closures for maintenance are a fact of life especially this time of year. Down here at BHX we are currently closed from 23:00 to 06:00 Monday to Friday.

Edit : Just checked and last nights last scheduled Jet2 arrival was at 21:20 from Alicante so either Jet2 staff stayed over or Swissport or others handled it? anyway Jet2 sorted it as best as they could I presume.

LBÀ seems to have emerged unaffected from last nights much ado about nothing snow event. Meanwhile though, I'm absolutely shocked to see photos just now of a snowy landscape at Doncaster. Surely such a travesty never happens? How many times have we heard that down there they never have snow, or fog, or anything else considered disruptive?

Apparently no landings there today.

Moderate snow this morning has lead to a small number of delays, diversions and cancellations. Notably Ryanair from Dublin went to East Midlands. The Wizz Air from Warsaw appears to be making its way to Liverpool and it looks like the Aer Lingus from Belfast may have gone into there too.

The snow is easing off and turning into rain/sleet so hopefully a resumption of normal ops soon.

According to LBA the runway is expected to reopen at 1000. Don't know what it's like at LBA but here at Cookridge there's a good 4" of the white stuff, so if they're open by 1000 they've done a good job given it's taxiways, apron and runway to clear. Hopefully it's the right type of snow and the fact it's turning to rain will help shift it.

It started snowing around 0530 at LBA so 4 hours 30 mins to clear the runway and the glide slope and LBA beacon are inop so I will leave you all to decide how you think the situation is today.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
