Maybe given the recent rumours of the tango boys larging it up, this might be a pre-emptive strike
Honestly, the lack of growth at LBA recently from Jet2 has almost certainly been due to terminal capacity. As that obstacle is reduced in 2025 and eliminated from 2026, I expect growth to feature again irrespective of what any other airline do. LBA always said they'd increase the number of stands when demand was there, and already one of the two being built this winter is 'let'.

On that subject, how many active stands does LBA actually have normally? I know some are no longer useable. As things stand, next summer, we have 19 based aircraft, 20 if Jet2 also base a spare here. (15/16 Jet2, 3 Ryanair, 1 KLM). Enough stands or not?

Personally I dont think the overnight capacity is the issue. The issue is Saturday afternoons when there are often more aircraft in the ground than stands available. I've seen as many as 5 Ryanair, a dozen or so Jet2, a TUi 738, several ATRs and an A319 when flights aren't running to schedule, with as many as 3 aircraft holding in the loop or on taxiway Delta, waiting for aircraft to push back and stands to clear, and the narrowness of the main apron prevents aircraft from taxiing out if there's another in front. I think that as well as the extra stands, they need additional exits from the apron in to the taxiway to keep things moving.

LBA FB page reporting 15th AC to be based at LBA for S25.

Anybody know how many they had based for S24? Presume 14 Operational and x2 back ups?
It was 14x based in S24 (6x B733s and 8x B738s were scheduled).

LBA also sees a higher aircraft utilisation vs other bases, with at least 2x aircraft most days operating 3x rotations, and the rest operating 2x rotations.

Although there will be another based aircraft in 2025, there will only be +6 departures vs summer 2024.

The latest update to the schedule sees the following additions per week:
PMI +1
REU +1
FAO - no change
EFL +1
ZTH +1
BOJ +1
FCO +2
VRN +1

The interesting part here is the B737-300's are the ones to operate 3x rotations - Palma, Reus, Alicante, Ibiza etc whilst the B738 go onto the longer routings and add capacity to key routes.

Good news all around - but where on earth is that additional aircraft coming from? With retirement of the B757 fleet, a new base now (originally applied to be a 5 base size of A321's), one suspects that originally fleet plan of drawing down the ACMI aircraft is out of the window for now.

Edit - one suspects they are not done yet and will release more additional flights once they know the trends and what's booking what isn't in January.

Yet more positivity for LBA - I like it.

Think it also hopefully puts to bed any conspiracy theories on what Jet2 plan in the longer term for Yorkshire

Oh that one where they going to move all people out of both Main offices and consolidate it in Manchester?

If they keep growing in the London Market (LGW next maybe) - they'll be moving HQ onto easyJet and Tui's front lawn won't they :ROFLMAO:

Excuse the maths but doesn't that add up to +8 rather than +6.
That’s because before this schedule update today, there were -2 departures in comparison to S24.

To clarify:
- Until today, S25 was showing as -2 on S24

- Today’s schedule update brings +8 new departures per week in S25

- S25 now stands at +6 on S24

Rumour I heard at work is that the W’s into LTN will be covered by LBA. So this adds up today! Additional aircraft but not many more departures!
If this is the case, it’s good to see no airport losing any flights and LTN flights being covered by LBA AC giving LBA extra departures also.

Can see in a heartbeat if Jet2 gain extra LTN slots to base an extra AC, the W patterns won’t be around

A comment from Facebook regarding the announcement of the expanded Jet2 programme for S25. Appears that’s another village missing its idiot.

“The bigger planes are past there (sic) sell by date really noisy and old or rubbish pilots”.
I saw that and gave my response in kind via an emoji. They're some real numpties out there . It's amazing they think they're correct and actually openly post such nonsense.

Basing a B737-800 into LTN when the base is A321 defies logic. They would keep the B737-800 in LBA or move it around the network to replace the extra A321.

It really doesn't matter anyway as I believe the A321 delivery schedule speeds up - So S26 could be very different for LTN and the rest of the bases.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
