The PR guys (if there are any!) really need to have a rethink. I don’t smoke, so it doesn’t bother me personally, but taking away the smoking facilities airside when passengers are basically stuck with no idea how long they’ll be waiting was always going to push some people to break the rules. Maybe it’s down to building work, but it’s a bit of a coincidence that ever since the smoking area disappeared, there’s been a big spike in fire evacuations.

As for the lounges… I honestly can’t believe someone suggested the 3 drink max rule in a meeting was ever going to be a good idea, and even more surprised that management went with it. What were they thinking? Sometimes it feels like LBA forgets how things work in the real world. A bit of common sense and a cost versus benefit check might help avoid these kinds of mistakes - especially when you’re running a service business where public perception really does matter. We shouldn’t be annoying people when we rely on them choosing to come through our doors and that all the competition seemingly have these facilities.

Yes, the drop-off charges annoy people too, but at least there’s a free option just down the road. That’s something.
This feels like it missed the mark completely, and there’s no real way of defending it.

I agree 100%.

Many are afraid of flying so normally a smoke before boarding can calm their nerves, makes sense to have a smoking area. non smoker myself.

The Avro lounge is free - or it is on my Dragon Pass app. You only have to pay a fee if you want to make a reservation…..That said I find most of the lounges on Dragon and Priority passes fairly poor even the ones at LHR…Always packed and the food isn’t usually up to much so tend not to bother with them anymore.

You can still go outside and smoke before security. https://www.leedsbradfordairport.co.uk/at-the-airport/facilities/smoking#:~:text=There is only one designated, allowed on board the aircraft.
None of the lounges are free with Dragon Pass or Priority Pass…try booking a lounge. You simply get a poor discount after you enter your pass details.

When we arrived from Dublin as a domestic arrival we walked straight into the new baggage reclaim. Not sure if it’s the same for all domestic arrivals? I just assumed that was the new norm.

Dublin flights go through the common travel area into the new building. The current Domestic Arrivals area couldn't cope with 189 passengers from a Ryanair.

I don't think that there is a problem with the "3 drink rule" because of the disruption it could cause on board an airplane later.
If you are in a pub and you have too much to drink and you become disruptive, it is relatively easy to kick you out of the pub. Not easy in a thin tube at 35000ft and at least 30 mins before you can land.

If you are only allowed 3 drinks, then the fee for the lounge becomes too much. My suggestion would be to reduce the fee for the lounge so it is more attractive having a 3 drink limit. If I had 3 pints, I would be spending the time going to the loo! :D

By the way, I am not tee total, but I do not drink a lot.

And if it is a 3 drink limit to stop potential disruptive behaviour then the normal airport bars have to adopt the same. Not sure there is a perfect solution mind but there has to be a way sought to reduce the amount of onboard disruptiveness that seems to happen these days

Has the entrance to it all been fully integrated yet so you don't have to walk down the temporary walkway between the old and the new sections? Also, any sign of what's happening in the new area where it's still boarded up?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
