Isn't Funchal the same? I know it's a "Captain Only" airport, would that imply special training as well?
It's a Jet2 weekly destination, travelled every year from LBA for past 5 years and going again in September.
3 or 4 of the flights have had 2 Captains flying the route.

It is, but there is clearly lots of demand for Funchal as an all year round destination from most if not all bases. Jet2 clearly dont see that when it comes to the more specialised ski market in Austria.

Many years ago I worked in local government with Richard before he achieved his aim of becoming a commercial pilot, something he was determined to do!

Airbus A321 G-HLYA is due in from MAN this morning at 1028, so presumably something based has gone tech. What, remains a mystery as FR24 hasn't yet made up its mind which outbound flight is being operated by the A321.

FR seems to have sorted itself out now. G-HLYA is due to depart Manchester for Leeds at the revised time of 10.30. It’s then down to operate LS205 to Ibiza departing at 11.25 (approx 2h 30m late). It’s then shown as flying from Ibiza to Luton, Luton to Ibiza before finally returning to LBA, departing Ibiza at 22.05. Nothing shown after that but could well be staying overnight?

Given there are currently two tech 738s, I would say that is a distict possibility.

Today’s LS239/240 Malta flight was cancelled and are still to confirm a return flight time back for the LS240 passengers with the outbound LS239 flight to Malta cancelled.

Yes. Malta blanketed in volcanic ash apparently. It isnt far from Sicily and right in the firing line if the wind is blowing that way.

Today’s LS239/240 Malta flight was cancelled and are still to confirm a return flight time back for the LS240 passengers with the outbound LS239 flight to Malta cancelled.

That isnt a problem. They always keep a number of spare landing slots each summer for unexpected night arrivals.

That was a test flight which it finally passed and is now back in service operating a flight down to Alicante.
