I wish I could tell you what the plans are, but sadly I can't, all I will say is that people will be very surprised! BIG changes for the coming summer, sit tight guys and girls all will be reviled
Thanks for the tip off. I appreciate there's probably little you can say but who can blame me for asking...

Are we talking new Infrastructure ie some form of work involving diggers and workmen?
Are you excited by what you know (and if so how much)?
Are we talking airside, terminal or outside the terminal?

I like you am wondering what the jobs may be,still its nice to hope some progress will be made as there seems so much still to-do, but us LBA supporters are good at waiting we have had plenty of practise over the years.

Lets hope they are building a new Greggs

Hahaha! I love this!! New stands? Longer runway? More terminal capacity? No. A new greggs, that's what we need!

You have genuinely made my day!

You are spot on. They're making a more organised queuing area for security so passengers aren't meandering through the check in hall all the way down to international arrivals. As for the winter work, unless things have since changed they're building a mezzanine level in front of gate 5 where the old cafe was and filling in the void next to gate 7 top of the airside escalators. That's old hat so this plan could have changed since I was told but it makes more sense money wise than altering stairwells.

This was my post back in June. I think the addition to the terminal is referring to the above post. Nothing significant on it's own but with the additional work that's planned on the apron it should make a big difference for next summer.

As far as I'm aware, LBA have purchased some additional 'buildings' (possibly porta-cabin type) from Manston. These are being delivered in the middle of the month and installed at the end of the walkway. By the sounds of things though, there will be no walkway extension and the holding lounge will not be implemented until at least 2016.

Don't quote me, I haven't seen them yet!! Some sort of building(s) second hand anyway. Being delivered over a few days.

If we're going to steel some leftovers from Manston some tarmac wouldn't go a miss. :D

Whilst browsing Twitter, I came across a post where someone put 'On route to Leeds Bradford Airport for the 1st of many night shifts on the runway' further investigating to this he put another post saying 'Digging Trenches' anybody know what they are doing?

It may have something to do with the new lighting been installed on the echo taxiway (Better known as the 14 loop).

Really there is No need for extra concrete, just move the displaced 32 threshold back to where it use to be, aircraft would then touch down on the flat bit of runway instead of them floating half way down in CAT111 conditions.

Out of interest, there is a new job role advertised by LBA on their website (jobs), which, when you read the job description, suggests that there is going to be a lot of development activity coming up in the next few years - hence why they are taking someone on board.

I was at Sandtoft Airfield yesterday and my mate wanted to have a look at Robin Hood Airport so we drove down there and had an hour in the terminal.
Positives.
1. B747 of Kalitta on the apron,
2. B727 of the oil pollution company on apron near hangers. [ Superb ]
3. Very Spacious Feel to car parks and terminal.
4. Modern and well appointed terminal area.
5. Fantastic runway into wind with Cat 3 ILS on both ends we were told.

Negatives.
1. £1.00 charge to drop off area which we managed to incur looking for the short stay car park.
2. £4.00 short stay car park fee [ 1 hour ]
3. Only three people other than staff in the terminal.
4. Only four arrival all day on the board. [ only 2 today ]
5. Only the shop open with all cafes etc closed.

If only we could get somewhere near the positive items they have at our local airfield it would make me very happy.

These new portacabins are going to be for Jet2. The temporary building known as Wensleydale House currently positioned on stand 1 is going and a the new replacement (second hand) buildings will be located else where so the apron near stand 1 can be extended.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
