There are a worrying amount of flights in the Jan-Mar period where BE have made prices unattractive by using the ‘all in’ fare only on flights to FAO, MUC, MXP, GLA, EDI, DUB and BHD

I hope this isn’t a sign they are being pulled due to the restructuring - although the ‘all in’ flights which could be removed make sense and add up to an aircraft being removed from the base. Fingers crossed this isn’t the case
A quick suggests one of the E175s may be removed and if it happens Faro will be gone completely and routes like Munich and Milan will be 1 weekly.

I actually think what is happening is the E195 has been replaced with the E175 and these prices could just be a temp block until it’s fully confirmed - so actually would result in no planes leaving the base! Just a all E175 base earlier!

It looks like the base goes all E175 from the 14th January.

I'll be using Flybe to Dublin and then Aer Lingus to San Francisco on their A330 and then Alaska Airlines to Portland for my flight over for Xmas and then return with Alaska, Aer Lingus and Flybe via LAX and Dublin. This will be my first time using the Dublin route instead of Amsterdam. I had planned to use that route but it was just too expensive this time. But i do get to try out a new airline and a new airport!

You’ll like DUB Jerry, it’s easy to use and with US pre-clearance, you walk right out of domestic arrivals on arrival in the US.

Aer Lingus don’t have a bad product in economy and their crew are always very friendly and provide a good service.

Thanks! Do you know what terminal in Dublin that Flybe operate into as i believe pre-clearance is in Terminal 1?

There is a period of about 3wks from about the 7/8JAN where the schedule is reduced or some routes stopped but then picks up again from Feb onwards, some returning on a lessor schedule than before though.
Happens at other bases too but CWL had been spared of these cuts as it was new base so it's perfectly normal and mitigating the winter losses i guess.

It's a pity that they've had to do it though especially the European flights.
Though I haven't checked recently they still have gaps in the schedule for Summer 19 where Berlin and Dusseldorf should be so hopefully they'll fill them with something!

BE have extended their summer schedule up until the end of October, although so far MUC, FCO, VCE and VRN have not been extended from the last schedule from early September. Also so far MXP ends at the end of September and doesn’t follow into October.

Yet Faro is onsale? I wonder if those routes are under review? Maybe swapping 2 of the jets for 2 Q400s? I hope not as it would be a bit of a blow for CWL to lose those European routes!

Yes Jerry it would be a shame to loose these routes. You know as well as me airlines drop and pick up routes and change aircraft types. They operate routes and do some strange things at times. Its all done to where money can be made.
Airlines are a business not a charity.

Yes they are a business but for Cardiff the jet base is important because it provides routes that the airport has never had and never will in the future and yes they have to be profitable but losing all of them in one go would be a disaster as confidence in the airport would be lost.

Are we not just getting ahead of ourselves and presuming the worst when they've only done the changes a few days ago
We probably are but it is slightly odd that they haven't loaded them up and i think with CWL there will always be the slight worry that routes like those will get canned.

Had a great flight with Flybe over to Dublin this morning. 68 passengers onboard including one merry drunk that slept through the flight and was still fast asleep as everyone deboarded!
Only complaint I have was the bag drop took quite a while as the old machines have been taken offline and the new ones aren't online yet. A lot of the problems seemed to be people having oversized bags especially carry ons. Flybe's new policy of enforcing it catching people by surprise but boarding did seem to be easier.
In Dublin now waiting to go through pre-clearance to the US.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
