Super set of picture Geoffh. They're all great and pin sharp which can be difficult to achieve with a moving subject.

LBA facebook page managed to post a picture today, what a great sight Monarch's 757's are!

And for anyone interested here is the LBIA facebook picture of Monarch Airlines, Boeing 757-200, G-DAJB sat on Stand 8 using the air bridge this afternoon for the outbound Leeds Utd charter to London-Gatwick

A vision of things to come! Monarch makes an early visit before flights begin to Munich and Grenoble in December

I hope that in time Monarch replace the A320 with the 757 at LBA. The moer 757's the better IMHO

I think you'll find Heather that Monarch are eventually replacing both the fleets of Boeing 757-200's and Airbus A300's with yet more narrow bodied Airbus A320 and A321's and keeping the fleet of wide bodied A330’s only

What is more interesting is the fact Monarch and Cosmos Holidays have just announced that they are to axe next summers long haul services to Orlando-Sanford due from both Newcastle and Cardiff due to low forward bookings. Now I wonder if the Airports management could persuade Monarch to launch a weekly service to Orlando-Sanford from Leeds-Bradford using some of that spare capacity?

Afteral dafter things have happend before...

Thanks Concorde Lover and Channex 757 for braving the weather to take some photos. Great pictures.

Geoffh has very kindly uploaded some new photos to the Leeds Gallery. Great pictures Geoff. :hatsoff:

I think they do that when they "bleed hot air" from the engine and divert it into the aircraft de ice system. It may have been a check to see if it was circulating properly. When they do this they lose about 1% of their take off thrust, to keep all the leading edges hot.

Yeah that sounds about right because there was severe icing right from the cloud base to 6,000ft so that would explain why.

Thanks

Compressor blade ice shedding procedure normally about 90% N1 [ fan speed ] for around 45 seconds for the GE CF6-50 engines on the Airbus A300.

Great pictures 'channex 757'. It's nice to see the white stuff in the background for a change.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
