Has anybody heard any rumours about if T3 is shutting or scaling down? Alot of rumours going around
Looks as if things are happening with UK MAXs as the 5 stored at Manchester have just been moved back to terminal area from end of 23R holding point
Yes the 73Ms are parked on the 900s and the NOTAM showing J1 being closed has now been removed.
Between A and B is still terminal one - google earth will show some of the viewing infrastructure is still on the roof albeit set back behind the 1998 Southern Front extension. For me, 1988-89, (I was 7/8 then) watching the movements from the cafe area overlooking the apron between pier's A & B, before going through security in T1 with my parents and have been fascinated with aircraft and aviation ever since.
Is this area now part of T3?
If it’s the one I think it is, the structure is still there. Became a staff canteen.@marni1971 thanks for the info.
But this specific area (where the cafe was situated) what is there now? I had the impression it was around where stands 16/17 are now?
Ah. I think we’re talking about another cafe now. The escalator and mezzanine in the landside lounge was added in 1998 as part of the Southern Front expansion project. But there was indeed a cafe on the mezzanine overlooking the apron by 16\17 and a landside link to T3. By the time this cafe was open, the one on the roof was long closed.@marni1971 yes I think this was the cafe, it looks in the same location. I remember going up the escalator in T1 departure lounge and the cafe being there, quite a long area which during the 90's I think had a connection to T3?
