Have read on Twitter that the TUI B737 MAX aircraft are now parked on the new 900 stands?

The stranded TUI MAX that was in Tenerife is currently being flown to BHX via Malaga.

Has anybody heard any rumours about if T3 is shutting or scaling down? Alot of rumours going around

I haven't heard any and certainly hope it's not true...yes this winter season will be quiet, but I can't see how social distancing can be maintained throughout in T1! The beauty of T3 at the moment is that it's quiet...I used to dread security and immigration in T3 (when I flew every week) but it's heaven mostly now (although sad to see of course).
I'm sure MAG can justify keeping T3 open at selected times for Ryanair...

Looks as if things are happening with UK MAXs as the 5 stored at Manchester have just been moved back to terminal area from end of 23R holding point

Good! Hopefully MAG can now re-open the full taxiway and we can enjoy the spotting up, close and personal again for 23R departures.

Are the MAX parked on the new stands?

Here's something vintage... airlineroute has put up the July to September 1961 schedule for BEA's MAN-Heathrow route

Of note.... 50 mins scheduled time in a Viscount compared to the 1 hour now. And the last flights of the day.
From MAN to Heathrow.... leave at 2225 to arrive 2315

What were you doing 43 years ago today (16th Oct 1977)? Me.... 1st visit to MAN and it gave completely the wrong impression on how busy MAN was back then as it was a good old fashioned diversion day with Air India 747 VT-EDU parked on stand 14 and virtually everywhere a plane could park utilised. Also had an odd movement in the form of Gulf Air VC10 A40-VG that parked on Pier A. Anyone else ever get a false indication on your 1st visit to an airport?

The first visit that I can definitely recall making was back in 1963 when Sabena - forerunner to SN Brussels-started their B707 service to New York, Manchester as a transit stop from Brussels.

For me, 1988-89, (I was 7/8 then) watching the movements from the cafe area overlooking the apron between pier's A & B, before going through security in T1 with my parents and have been fascinated with aircraft and aviation ever since.
Is this area now part of T3?

Between A and B is still terminal one - google earth will show some of the viewing infrastructure is still on the roof albeit set back behind the 1998 Southern Front extension.

@marni1971 thanks for the info.
But this specific area (where the cafe was situated) what is there now? I had the impression it was around where stands 16/17 are now?

If it’s the one I think it is, the structure is still there. Became a staff canteen.

If you took the stairs next to the Lancaster Restaurant off the main concourse to the roof, went through the turnstile and turned right it was on the right. Entrance was at the end of it.

@marni1971 yes I think this was the cafe, it looks in the same location. I remember going up the escalator in T1 departure lounge and the cafe being there, quite a long area which during the 90's I think had a connection to T3?

Ah. I think we’re talking about another cafe now. The escalator and mezzanine in the landside lounge was added in 1998 as part of the Southern Front expansion project. But there was indeed a cafe on the mezzanine overlooking the apron by 16\17 and a landside link to T3. By the time this cafe was open, the one on the roof was long closed.
