Both TK and LH are star alliance, surely it would be one or the other?
Why? Both completely different airlines in completely different parts of the world, with completely different networks.

Judging by other airports around the world, upgraded terminals please travellers but have no effect on attracting new airlines, except where slot availability is involved.

Many routes on this wishlist should be possible. A3 very unlikely and BA are, apparently, not contemplating a return. TK’s list of new destinations for the next 10 years includes just 2 UK destinations - BRS and GLA (NCL seems to have been dropped). LH more likely than AF given the KLM presence, but given the CAA stats suggest the LPL route is struggling, they might well be cautious.
A3 doing BRS & NCL. Can’t see why LBA wouldn’t be able to sustain a service. ATH is very popular, great starting point for Greek island hopping.

If LH started flights from the right bloody airport (LBA) then the route would not be struggling! LPL is just too close to MAN, other airlines in the past have struggled out of LPL because of close proximity to MAN inc easyjet reductions and i believe KLM too.
The increases in flight ops by our current airlines is great but the news this week of sun express starting ops from LBA is the icing on the cake, in my opinion the next level up and what LBA management need to be aiming for.
Like mentioned if our so called fog bound 1960s terminal airport is seeing good growth now inc over all its competition then yes once the terminal is expanded and improved im sure we are in for great times ahead

Reading the route development thread on the BHX forum there are some interesting comments surrounding PLAY. Personally I have no idea how true they are but to some degree they support what we have been saying for many a year along the lines of "why do airlines insist on starting services from another airport west of the Pennines that is so close to another they, or another airline already serving the route, already operate from". So if there is any truth that they and LH are both struggling from LPL there is a two sided argument:
Firstly was going west (LPL) instead of east (LBA) the wrong choice.
Secondly could as has already been suggested deter these airlines from starting further UK routes.

@lbaspotter mentioned a couple of months back that AF were possibly close to announcing LBA, so let's hope there is some truth in that too for next year.

And finally for now, and just to be a little negative, the current economic pressures may start to have a detrimental effect on air travel in the coming months/couple of years so let's hope that any newly announced services, of which I do believe there are more to come, do perform strongly from the off. The demand is there as we know so let's hope so

AF would be great but to work it would need to be early out and late back so falling within peak period (and outbound prob within quota period).

Good point about people cutting back (on holidays) in current economic climate)

An out of quota departure at 07:00 will get you into Paris for 08:00 and in the office for 09:00. Not a problem at all.

I would reasonably expect Air France to utilise its new Airbus 220s if they were to come to us. I know nothing about this aircraft's engines but with it being as modern as it is, I honestly can't see it being categorised as 'too noisy for nights'. I'm also unsure if the Hop Embraers are in the same category.

Not sure if this applies to us, but never say never..... Emirates and Qatar CEOs at the Paris Air show (via Bloomberg) both say demand is very hot, but the lack of new planes due to supply chain issues is hampering new routes which could take years to resolve, UK market is massive and they will need to be aggressive in retaining growth, especially with new competition from Saudia. Looks like we aint getting any legacy ME carrier in the foreseeable future.

As I understand it LH is continuing to do well, I've spoken to someone with Liverpool Airport Management who said as much. I also observed Tuesdays flight take a decent load of passengers while I was in departures.

Sorry your assumption that airlines are struggling out of Liverpool is not actually true. Lufthansa has just past its first anniversary. I used the airline about 5 times last year and the loads were good. Easyjet is massively under selling LPL - AMS , it should be 3 per day as it has been for many years.

KLM pulled LPL due to poor loads although thats possibly due to easyjet also at LPL and MAN nearby?

There is more to it than that. The route went from 3 per day to 4 per day. That doesn't suggest poor loads ( i used it more than once, certainly were not poor when i was on it ). It's been discussed so many times. Other factors at play.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
