I wish something would happen route development wise finger! Yes LBA is doing great with extra flights to the med constantly been announced by our carriers but it would be nice for something a bit special to be announced ie loganair, turkish, LH etc
I think we will end up as as small version of LTN…hopefully build up to that 5M plus but no exotic destinations.

@Seasider yes Porto is a possibility but still not top of our list
@Aviador it is both of us not just Mrs Finger but yes more so Long Haul with Thailand plus NZ and The Pacific Islands top of the radar. The latter will have to wait though.
For the record if circumstances meant we were to holiday two to three times a year then yes the cities or beaches served from LBA would be attractive for one trip.
The last two trips have been Cape Verde and Istanbul, hence why I originally said they are doable from LBA and also on a lot of people's wishlist for LBA. I wouldn't rush back to the former just yet, much as we had a great time. Istanbul though is fabulous

I agree Istanbul is amazing. Connections via AMS were great, not sure if they still are.

This assumes the aircraft will be transferred to Wizzair UK. It is surely more likely they will be absorbed into Wizzair Hungary, so UK bases would not be in question.
Post from the dried fruit forum(Buster Bear) suggests some coming to LTN, hence my post:
  • Base Closure:
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is closing its base in Abu Dhabi.
  • Aircraft Relocation:
Some aircraft, including the A321XLR, are being moved to Wizz Air UK's base in Luton.

I see the uk has lifted the ban on Pakistani carriers flying to the UK. They can apply for permits to fly here. i wonder if we will see a development would be good for a carrier to start a service here while it's a level playing field (no established routes running yet). We have the demand surely

We do, but MAN is where PIA will go.

I think the vibe on here is a bit of a slump at the moment with things going on, however we need to look at the positives of this Winter we have so far:

easyJet new route to BCN
KLM going x4 Daily and using larger E295
Jet2 announcing a new route to RAK

It is not all doom and gloom, some airports would kill for this.

However the comments Re BA does concern me about their return. Looks like things have gone quiet on the Logan Air front however it does not surprise me with a base shuffle / NCL now shutting, they don't seme to be in a expanding airline at the moment.

Would be good to see FR put BTS on sale for Winter. Wizz has just opened a new base there..

I would love to see something new from Wizz.

If InfraBridge are going to see a return on their £200m investment between now and 2030, there will have to be a far greater expansion of flights than we have seen in the past few months.
Major expansion remains unlikely until 2027 when the terminal is completed. Clearly there's room for some non based expansion at quiet times, but that's about it until the whole terminal is usable.

Frustratingly Wizz has just announced GLA FCO & GLA MXP, they are ending their only BUD route from the airport but managed to secure 2 new ones. MXP I would love to see from LBA. also the return of Venice.

Yes like I've mentioned wizz air is the airline that could be a major player at LBA as they have a large route network inc to destinations that certainly would work out of LBA, suitable aircraft and no MAN interference!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
