It’s ironic that Bristol has had Frankfurt before with Lufthansa and it failed. I can’t really see this doing that well on those timings and it’s still a slog down the M5/A30 to Cornwall in peak summer.

The Germans do like Cornwall and the southwest of England, as ZDF( equivalent of BBC2) do tv adaptations of Roamunde Pilcher books and the shows are very popular. Maybe the tour operators that will take seats are looking to expand the appeal across the whole southwest and take in the likes of Bath too?

Is there a Yorkshire Tourist Board or equivalent? Yorkshire has much to offer, The Dales, York, Harrogate, Leeds for shopping, the coast, etc.
More tourists will bolster LBA numbers.

I do not understand members negativity regarding new airlines/routes for LBA.
Since COVID, I have flown for LBA to:
Las Palmas; Basle; Amsterdam; Catania; Krakow; Malaga; Faro; Guernsey; Dublin; Doha; Kuala Lumpur; Singapore; Lyon; Palma; Verona; Sao Paulo; Rio de Janerio; Oporto; Lisbon; Belfast City; Riga; Vilnius; Warsaw; Geneva;
Obviously some destinations were not direct, but it does show what can be achieved from our "little airport on the hill"

Was thinking with air baltic currently with us at LBA it would be nice to see them operate flights from the airport to riga and vilnius, 2 perfect routes with a market to themselves which is a bit like wizz currently enjoy from LBA, so air baltic on riga and vilnius and abit more from wizz would be great, just a shame that curently no airlines seem interested in LBA.

Air Baltic are having financial problems of the own and are having to cut a lot of routes and grounding half its fleet of Airbus A220's this winter. So sadly I doubt we will see them coming to LBA anytime soon.

It seems Air Baltic can barely make LON work from VNO, RIX or Tallinn. It is no Ryanair.

Well it was due to return to Riga last night, so shouldn't be here now. Air Baltic wouldn't have Riga to themselves and I doubt they would compete well with Ryanair who are well established on the route from LBA.

Vilnius seems a no brainer though, given the loads Ryanair had before falling out with the airport operator over fees.

I wonder if that could be due to the rumoured arrival of the A321CEOs to LBA and that gives them all the capacity uplift they need without increasing their overall number of flights?

Well I guess they wont as the extra slots are restricted to newer aircraft. Jet2 would have to bring in the NEO to make use of the extras. Ryanair on the other hand, with a 4th based aircraft that utilises a MAX could take advantage bearing in mind they don't use many late evening slots. They tend to use a fair number between 0600 and 0700 though.

I am not sure there are enough extra slots anyway to enable any significant growth. They mainly ensure the airport diesn't breach the night flight limits.
