At the end of the day, it is not just an LBA 'thing'. BA have systematically cut operations back from the regions including MAN as stated above. I flew many years ago from MAN to LHR... out on a 757 and back on a 767/3, so yes their service has been reduced. Don't forget the MAN-JFK that also got canned. Teesside lost their service entirely. At the end of the day it is all about getting as many bums on seats as possible at LHR using as many A380/B787/B777 as possible.

Have to say BA have made a correct move in my mind, in introducing a ban on passengers reclining seats on flights under 4 hours, feel sure it will cause outrage with other passengers who wish to recline.
You would have thought these changes on, reclining, food, drink etc left to the new "Level" brand.

Not me either but why do we need to play cloak and dagger !
It is what it is I personally think the route should be supported to avoid overcrowded trains and peoples houses being bulldozed to put new railway lines in but no doubt I am in the minority.

I can fully agree with Bigman, went to NZ over 20 years ago MAN-LHR-LAX-AKL and back the same way, down from MAN to LHR on the 757, 9.30am flight, and back up a month later on the 767, 11am flight, although the 767 was way less than half full

You're not on your own as I share your view on HS2. It's a huge waste of money and taxpayers will be paying for it for years to come.

LBA to LHR via BA will always come down to £ notes, I can fly direct to some of my favourites like Florence and Ibiza using British Airways from Manchester, LHR is the only route from Leeds direct on BA, I accept LBA to DUB with Aer Lingus another IAG option. I cant really see outside a proper hub service to Dublin with a view to increase traffic to the States any prospects for BA at LBA, BA will be left with a one trick pony (LBA to LHR), always a major concern for any business.
Justine Greenings sacking on Monday may well be the death knell for the third runway at LHR, I noticed today at PMQ she was sat next to Dominic Grieves, bad news for runway 3 fans, this will put even more pressure on this route.

Recently booked BA flights from LBA to SIN and back in October- great connections. Guess what, received email other day to say 14:35 flight to LHR has been cancelled, so now re-booked on 09:35! So frustrating, looks like we will be re-booking from MAN.

I know LBA is a very small fish in a huge ocean but still, it does make you wonder if BA are playing games with the new owners of LBA to see what deal they can get out of them?

Its a shame the LBA management aren't more accessible. I would love to bring this to their attention, but clearly this cant happen. I suspect they don't really ever get to hear from their customers.

It's unlikely they would divulge information such as that to "customers".

Charging for incoming phone calls doesn't really suggest they want to speak to their customers either.
It sort of makes you think 'why should I bother' if they don't want anything to do with me why should I want anything to do with them. Just hate having to go to Manchester its like being forced to take my business to LBA's biggest competitor.

LBA's CEO, David Laws has constantly being saying since taking over the job last year he is always open and willing to listen to customers complaints.
So I'd advise you to put pen to paper and write a letter to him directly.. Otherwise how will he ever know what your problems are. Oh you might just get a reply from him too..

David Laws is, however, fully aware of the issues with BA, and the constant cancellations by BA are hardly LBA management fault anyway. They have been doing all they can to persuade BA to provide a reliable and more frequent service. David is a very approachable chap though and I have no doubt at all that he would be happy to hear views if put in writing. He seems considerably more open to hearing views and keeping the public informed than his predecessors.

That's good to hear. When John Parkin was at BRS I found him very 'hands on' in the sense that he would reply to letters under his own signature (he may not have written them of course) and actually answer points raised rather than give a generalised 'corporate-speak' reply. I found that to be the case with the most recent CEO at BRS who is now at LCY, albeit he had many admirable qualities but personally dealing with correspondence from the public was not one of them. Neither was ensuring that his staff actually addressed issues raised when replying on his behalf.

I'm surprised to learn that JP seems to have taken a backward step with those responsibilities during his incumbency at LBA.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
