Never heard of this ever happening before….
The low-cost airline has been stopped from operating the flights to Eindhoven Airport, a hub around 60 miles away from Amsterdam, after it repeatedly arrived late, the Airport Coordination Netherlands (ACNL) said.
The ACNL, which assigns airport slots in the Netherlands, found Ryanair had been consistently late on Monday evening flights from Sofia, Bulgaria, and Thursday evening flights from Pisa, Italy.
It said the flights were on average more than an hour late. As a result, it removed the airline from the two slots for next summer's schedule - a penalty it rarely issues.
Ryanair told Money it was appealing the decision to the European Commission and the Dutch courts, calling it "unprecedented, irrational and disproportionate".
"Ryanair is the most punctual airline in Europe. ACNL are penalising airlines for ATC (air traffic control) delays pushing flights just 15-minutes over their scheduled arrival time, which is completely out of whack with the vast majority of European airports where the threshold is much higher and more reasonable," it added.
