Is it not the airline that puts pressure on the loading aspect.
ON our last Ryanair flight we were taken down to the stand in the ambulift and the plane had only just arrived at the stand, stairs not even in place.
The special assistance crew said they were fined £75 (assume the airport), if they did not load as soon as Ryanair created the window, we sat the freeezing cold for around 30 minutes, before we were loaded.
This must have had a knock on effect as it took this ambulift out of action for around 45 minutes and you could hear on the walkie talkie, calls asking when we would be loaded.

Swissport will have a Service Level Agreement with both the airlines they service and LBA and will need to comply with both. It is their job to manage the boarding of aircraft and comply with the SLA without inconveniencing passengers the degree mentioned. In this case it appears they have taken matters to an extreme to ensure that they are ready to board, leaving passengers hanging around in the walkway when the incoming aircraft hasn't yet de-planed. Whether it is Ryanair or LBA that fine them if they fail to board on time I don't know - I would assume the airline personally as we all know Ryanair are very demanding with regard to turn round times.

I thought the Special assistance staff were now under the direct control of the airport, I remember mid way through last year, staff we know well advising they had new contracts and some not happy with their new shifts, just after this we were left stranded on a Jet2 aircraft as no ambulift ordered and when they came to collect us after an hour on the ground, the SA staff asked if we could provide proof we had ordered an ambulift from Jet2 as they wanted to offset any charge. WE had delayed the loading of the next flight and the captain could not leave the aircraft as passengers still on board and the full cleaning of the cabin had taken place around us.
Certainly in the previous incident I highlighted it was Ryanair who were fining them £75, I think they said they had a 20 minute window to load or unload and I never know with Ryanair whether its a back door or front door load, which makes booking seats a problem.

Some of the posters on here know where others live I don’t think that should be a problem but it would be safer just to say you are travelling during a certain month just in case the data is hacked.

Just to clarify the forum position on this. If you post anonymously on the forums you have nothing to worry about as there is no point during registration when anybody is asked for their address. If however you choose to post on the forums using a photo image of yours truly then it is probably best not to advertise when you are out of the country.

Worryingly the teddy bear always seems to be on a sunbed, so must spend a lot of time away from home. On a serious note though, I would definitely agree that we take care not to give too many clues as to exactly who and when as you just can't be too careful these days.

Travelled out 2/2 on LS477 to Las Palmas returning yesterday the delayed LS478. Both flights full and on new 738s.

From Guiseley to the Camden Food Cafe via meet and greet parking, check in, security and Travelex took 25 minutes! Well done LBA. The flight was boarded early as it was one of those very cold mornings and the captain wanted to de ice and still keep his departure slot. We arrived LPA about 20 minutes early as a consequence.

Return not so good. The outbound left approximately 1 3/4 hours late and arrived into LPA 1 hour 10 late. The handling agents were a bit slack and as a result it was proposed to extend the existing 1 hour delay by a further 2 hours due to traffic density. I feel they could have done more to get us and the bags on more efficiently so the Captain could start his negotiations more quickly. The delay was 90 minutes in the end so well done Jet 2 and on the ground the crew came round with water and tours of the cockpit were available - a first class customer service recovery.

Arrival at LBA. My usual grip about the escalator up to arrivals being out of action so lots of elderly passengers walking up those step[s, Passport very efficient and bags a bit slow due to the much discussed carousel congestion - we had to wait for Tenerife to off load bags before we got ours. Car parked right outside on arrival and still on our way 45 minutes after landing - the new development will m are a massive difference!

To show faith in FlyBE, just booked LBA - BHD - LBA x 4 for travel in August. Looking forward to the Dash 8 as will be a first for me.

Did this trip last year, great flight, we had good visibility all the way and the Dash is a good experience. Quick to load as well..BHD is a great airport to use with the city centre less than 10mins drive away. We found Belfast to be a great destination and made to feel very welcome wherever we went. Hoping to go back later this year.

Flying back on Ryanair fr9078 from Alicante tomorrow (2.3.19) see how my arrival is following a very unpleasant outbound from lba 4 weeks back. Enjoyed fantastic weather with not one single cloud for 3 weeks and around 20c everyday

Returned back to Lba today, 2 stretchy buses took us to the steps towards the end of the walkway where it got abit congested due to the escalator not working and abit of a wait going through passport checks but apart from that a fairly ok experience.

Did they take you on a tour of the baggage trolley parking area first :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

lol at paully! what I did notice was that when you fly from an airport like Alicante back to lba it makes lba look like some tiny little forgotten airport from the 1980,s lol in general the uk looks like a developing country now in comparison to spain with its transport infrastructure

This country, mainly many governments of the past, don't quite understand the concept of speculate to accumulate.

Oh and when we want to do something we spend money, we tit about for about 5 years consulting every single man & has dog. Very democratic maybe but very unproductive.

AlC is around 4 times bigger in passenger and freight terms then LBA, so you would expect to notice some difference.
I worked abroad a lot in the 70's and 80's and when I returned to the u.k., LHR or MAN, the first thing I noticed was how run down, dirty and shabby everything looked, the same today.
You only have to look at the walkways at LBA as a lot of people just use them as a waste bin, the same with our streets.
Until we regain pride and take responsiblility for our own actions, no change will occurr. Recently visiting a food retail outlet at LBA, I had to clear, clean the table and floor before use, others just prepared to sit down surrounded by all the filth.

Returned from Belfast yesterday afternoon. Caught the Bangor train from Lanyon Place Station (not far out of the city centre. Off the train at Sydenham, over the footbridge to the other side of the parallel dual carriage way. Found a passenger gate near the end of the steps of the bridge, and a wall mounted phone, in a shelter where you requested a courtesy bus, it came within a few minutes straight to the entrance. No problem. The taxi fare on Thursday was £11.50. Train fare £2 and a free bus - saved a bit of brass!

Mr and Mrs Barnsley flew with Flybe to BHD last year. We used the number 600 dedicated airport bus which drops off at a couple of City Centre stops and the Europa Bus Station which is adjacent to Great Victoria Street train station. It operates at least every 30 minutes with a 10 minute journey time and a return fare of £3.80 per person. Highly recommended.

Yep, we were going to use that 600 service. We were staying near Ormeau Park but we would have had to go across the city centre, as the buses were being diverted because of the St Patrick's Day parade, so the train was more convenient as we were not too far from Lanyon Station

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
