I find it quite astonishing and slightly worrying that Ryanair have dropped a long established and what is considered a "bread and butter" route from LBA for this winter, but taken the plunge on a new MME- ALC service.

Lets hope the Ryanair -LBA relationship /partnership is still strong as we can't afford to lose or see further reductions.

agree with you re alc, if easy jet did start that route i would bet FR would be straight back on with some
very low fairs to kill easy on that route.

Problem is we don’t know Ryanair’s intentions so they might bring ALC back. Plus the Summer 2022 schedule hasn’t been released for LBA at the moment so they might put ALC on for Summer 22.

It’s already been mentioned but we are still not in normal times I think 3 Carriers on the route might be an overkill for the time being.

Im baffled as to why the ryanair LBA to ALC route has gone, surely it must of been their highest demand route? It really makes no sense, and as pointed out we now have the MME to ALC and also MAN during winter has 2 flights a day on some days!
Be great if easyjet came along and added ALC and AMS to their BFS route from leeds, then if successful add some more unusual routes such as LIS and MAD, play it safe with the A319s until word gets around. Now is the time i say but as with LBA we get nowt where as all other airports expand, we all know why that is tho!

Flew Jet2 to Jetsey on Thursday. Encouraging departures list! Used the short stay car park which was a doddle and check in with Jet2 as friendly and efficient as ever. Even though it was the quiet part of the day security seemed to be stretched and staffed by a lot of temporary staff. Used the lounge which was well populated and lovely ladies running it.

118 on board and boy did they race with the trollies on a 53 min flight.

My first contribution in a long while and hopefully the first of many flights again!

Flew back from Jersey on Tuesday - 738 seemed busier than the outward flight- maybe 80% full, possibly more. Jersey airport seemed to be struggling like LBA with staffing in the security and catering outlets as security given the number of passengers security was equally as painfully slow as the LBA experience. Inboud flight landed early from LBA, boarded bang on time and pushed back slightly early with a 60 minute flight landing in LBA ahead of schedule. Bags off reasonably promptly (why oh why do they use the small belt at the end with a very busy flight with no others due!!!). Overall a very positive post pandemic experience with Jet 2!

Due to travel LBA-AMS-GRZ and return in mid December for Christmas market break (also using soon to expire KLM vouchers). Hopefully the period of lockdown in Austria does not exceed the planned maximum of 20 days otherwise it will be another cancelled trip.

Appreciate there are easier ways of getting to Leeds from London, but I've just booked LHR-BHD-LBA-BHD-LHR on a single BA booking for travel in March next year.

@KARFA I'll send you the details.

Less than a week after booking, BA have now significantly changed the March LBA-BHD schedule by reducing the number of flights.

The changes for me now equate to a 40 minute transfer at BHD on the way up from LHR with the Am Leeds flight cancelled and being moved onto a re-timed Pm service that arrives after my the BHD-LHR connection has departed.

On that basis, I will will regretfully have to cancel my anticipated journey.

Wasn't it March that Emerald were due to start operations? Perhaps until they get up to speed the route might be operated by both BA and Emerald. Say, Emerald doing the morning flight and BA in the afternoon with a gradual handover. That said, as the fights are all code shared with Aer Lingus, they should all show up on their booking system whoever flies it. It does seem odd though that they are reducing flights just as the level of bookings normally starts to increase. Maybe they need the aircraft due to a planned increase in ops at London City?

Flew LBA - BER - LBA 25th / 28th November. Both flights with loads somewhere between a 733 and a 738 (150 to 160 mark) so people weren't put off by the rules in Germany - interestingly some people were seat only and also German so there is demand here. The LBA experience was very good - checkin, security and passport.

I was excited to try the new BER airport, but boy has this place some issues. The whole check in area has only one Starbucks. The handling agents I think cheated Jet2 as we had 2 flights leaving and they had 4 desks allocated with only 3 agents leading to a dismal service, security was no better and you seemed to have to queue everywhere - the airport is not at capacity yet so heaven help us when it is! The railway station to the centre of town is very good being located under the terminal

The terminal has some real stupid design touches - the way the loo doors open, the soap being located a metre or so away from the basin, lack of automatic doors in some areas with doors opening the 'wrong' way - odd place - and not German efficiency! I hope LBA dont get the designers of this terminal involved in our redevelopment!

Flew LBA - LPA - LBA 29/1 out and 5/2 return. Both the departure and the arrival were on the margins of wind and a wet runway and coming back last night was a bumpy old Yorkshire welcome! Both flights were very punctual - outbound nearly full - inbound maybe 75 to 80% so I guess this reflects the change in direction on travel testing.

Used the short stay, fast track and the Yorkshire lounge outbound - 20 minutes after pulling up, checking in bags and security we were in the lounge - the staff i have to say were really lovely.

We parked mid way up the tunnel and I found myself saying why oh why are we faffing around with the new terminal as on a stormy night that tunnel is dreadful! Passport was slick and no checking of locator forms in evidence at LBA (in sharp contrast at LPA where it was rigorous) and we were first out from the carousel approximately 35 minutes after landing. Well done Jet2!

We used Excalibur Testing (as arrived just ahead of the travel changes) through the Jet2 website at £13 each and I have the say once you get past reviewing the idiots guide to LTF testing (and passing a quick test!!!) , the app was superb at capturing the result and its very cost effective should the need arise in the future. You can also use this for multiple people in the travel party.

What a lot of people may not be aware and I wasn`t until our trip to FUE last November is that whhen you fill out the locator form prior to re entry to the UK, those details are entered onto your passport records which Border Force can see at the port of arrival. It then speeds up the arrivals process. It works because we got pinged after our return as it appears someone on our return flight tested for it.

That actually makes sense as we got pinged in November also after Berlin! The clunky form may be cleverer than we think!!!!!!!!

2 Jet2Holidays trips booked for this year. Santorini in May and Costa Brava in August. 2 trips to Buenos Aires planned for July and October. Tromso with KLM via AMS & BGO over new year. So good to be able to book trips again.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
