I flew FR to ALC on Friday and returned yesterday. Both flights landed early. About 130pax on the LBA-ALC on Friday and 97 on my return yesterday. No problems at LBA on either days. The arrivals experience into LBA now is so much better…even the toilets. All 8 border controls desks were manned yesterday and it looked like a few agents were under training.

Only in ALC region 1 day? 🤔

Not brilliant loads. Lets hope they sold plenty of high cost tickets.

To be expected, late November to mid December along with January are generally the quietists times of year for LBA.

Don’t worry through as I loadings will start to improve this week along with extra flights commencing in the run up to the Xmas getaway.

I bought mine a week in advance for £16.99 per sector.

Yeah. I had 3 days off work so really wanted to do a Christmas market but the flights were well over £100 return. Found fights to ALC for £33.98 return. When I travel I like to stay in Accor hotels ( ibis Novotel Mercure ) I never knew they had a Mercure in Benidorm. Absolutely gorgeous hotel it was too. £70 a night half board. I found transfers with a company called Beniconnect. 4 of us on a 70 seat coach from ALC to Benidorm and similar on the way back for £24.

Just in the new departure lounge heading to ALC, airports currently a building site with lots of construction all over. The old lounge has temporarily been halved in size and its one heck of a maze following the tunnel to the new dep lounge. The new lounge looks good with some new decorative features added, all good!
No pain, no gain. It'll be a messy winter but worth it. Enjoy Alicante. Again!!

Update, the only issue I've noticed with the new terminal which I've mentioned before are the steps down to the apron from each gate, there too narrow so when passengers queue down them they tend not to queue in 2 rows, it creates a backlog into the main lounge of which the staff then have to tell passengers to queue in 2 rows which is a tight squeeze, plus the steps have a factory feel to them, other than that its great experience passing through the new extention!
Aircraft roughly 90 per cent full but the 2 seats next to myself are not taken 😜😀

I had the dubious pleasure of using the posh new international arrivals facility at LBA last night for the first time to pick up my aged parents from the TFS flight. Lovely air conditioning, built in sprinkler to keep everyone cool, dim mood lighting..................thank goodness I'm a LBA supporter who's aware of the ongoing works to improve the airport. What anyone must think using the airport for the first time - especially to pick someone up - is likely not printable.
A gale blowing through the tiny shelter with drizzle blowing in one end and out the other, what it must be like on a cold, wet winters night one can only imagine lol!!
I know it's only temporary but surely someone could have stuck a couple of patio heaters under the shelter for busier times, at least that would make it slightly more inviting.................

And an accidental burning damages claim waiting to happen. H&S restrictions severely limit what can be done. Patio heaters would be a non starter.

Clearly everyone else on board knew exactly where you were sitting @LBA4EVER 😂
One of the spare seats was soon taken haha Flight was 5mins early departing LBA and landed 25mins early into Alicante, a pleasant 16c, clear and calm here at 8pm

Personally i think its great having all the construction going on with temporary walkways etc, its exciting to know the airports changing for the better!

I get what you're saying - 100% - but pubs and cafes with outdoor eating areas seem to manage with them. We all know what it's like waiting and waiting of friends & family coming through arrivals - at all airports, many worse than LBA even when the arrivals area is indoor.

Yes, they do. Until there's an incident and the more people in the vicinity, and the more they are moving about, the more likely that incident will be.

I totally understand that its not pleasant but if the airport tried to introduce something perceived as potentially dangerous in that location, the HSE would be on them like a ton of bricks. Nobody will take legal action because its chilly and windy waiting in a temporary location, but they will if the airport plonk something big and hot in the middle of a busy circulation area and something bad happens.

I’m a bit surprised in this day and age of mobile phones and websites showing the arrival times of the flights, that too many people are stood around outside for too long. When we collected someone recently, we just said text us when you get your bags and we’ll come and meet you. Until then, we sat in the warm in the car

And in my case last night I watched the plane land from the cemetery, gave it a few minutes, went to the car park, sat a while in the warm, then went and stood by the arrivals to meet a couple in their late 80's who are not especially savvy with technology.
Please don't get me wrong - I'm not a moaner or unhappy, what I'm saying is that on a nice day / night there isn't an issue waiting outdoors and for me personally there's no problem in any weather as I work outside. What I am saying is that on a wet, windy night it's not a particularly pleasant experience and for anyone using the airport for the first time it doesn't portray a good look. If heating of some sort isn't practical then maybe a slightly bigger sheltered waiting area would have been something worth thinking about.
I'm sure one all the alterations are finished it'll all be worthwhile, but maybe a little more thought could have gone in to it for winter nights - and for those not as handy on a mobile phone.

I imagine that space is at a premium around there with the contractors compound etc. Perhaps it wasn't physically or safely feasible to provide more space. Building works on this scale, whilst keeping an airport terminal fully operational is a huge and complex task, particularly with the HSE crawling all over the risk assessments. Frankly, it's amazing they're managing to do it at all in what is a relatively compact terminal building. Some compromise was always going to be necessary particularly during certain phases of the project.

We are on the LS249 down to Fue again on the 8th January for some respite from the cold..and back again later that month also into LBA..We missed out on the new terminal in Oct due to Ryanair scheduling antics, so looking forward to seeing it..If anyone knows the location of the passenger assistance desk in the new terminal I would appreciate a heads up in advance..thanks

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
