Yes you are right, my mistake. Bad memory, wrong city, right principle. Aimed at leisure, not business.

I am joining A300boy having a senior moment. :)

Just a thought, but do you think having a service into LBA will increase our chances of getting their MAN diverts?

I guess that will depend on if SAS are using there own metal (Eg. like MAN) or if Cimber Air (Eg. like NCL & HUY) operating the Leeds flights?

I do not understand your post lbaspotter - Cimber Air no longer exist, nor did SAS have any allegiance with them at the time of their demise....

....Furthermore, all a/c that did at one time operate for SAS are no longer part of the SAS fleet

Quite true and I agree that Cimber Sterling doesn't exists. But Cimber Air dose still exist, See following link http://www.cimber.com/charter-flight/ And I do know they currently operate the Humberside - Copenhagen route for SAS using one of the 5x CRJ200's that they have along with a few ATR's

But it looks as though they wont be operating the Leeds-Copenhagen route seen as they don't operate the larger CRJ900. So yes as you rightly pointed out the route will be operated by one of SAS own aircraft.

Good news as SAS Scandinavian Airlines Winter 2014/15 flights from Leeds to Copenhagen are now on sale. The route continues to operate on a 2x weekly basis on Monday and Fridays. The service will take a break over the festive period with the last flight been on Monday December 22nd 2013 and restarts from Friday, January 16th 2015.

Mondays
SK1543 = CPH 16:00 LBA 16:50 / SK1544 = LBA 17:20 CPH 20:00
Fridays
SK1543 = CPH 19:00 LBA 19:50 / SK1544 = LBA 20:20 CPH 23:00

Do I win a free flight to Copenhagen for spotting your deliberate mistake above lbaspotter?.It's mon and fri,not mon and tues.

No,didn't think so!.

Bookings are presumably up to scratch so far then. Great news indeed.

Just went to look up prices for a party of six out 5th December and back 8th- for a Christmas shopping trip. Really disappointed that fares are much higher than from MAN.
LBA-CPH £260.92 return, MAN-CPH £146.20 return.

This means it's over to MAN again this year.....real shame.

Its a good job you didn't look at the SAS Humberside - Copenhagen route prices for the same dates "LBAYORKIE", Its even more expensive than Leeds/Bardford at an amazing £383.42p return per person. I suppose its cheaper to fly from Manchester due to them using a much larger aircraft so more seats to fill plus I think they have competition up against easyjet.

I think you are right, but it doesn't bode well for bookings. There is same situation with KLM LBA vs MAN but to a much lesser degree. I was looking forward to using the service. Oh Well!

Well flights being on sale for W14/15 is surely a positive sign!

SAS face competition on their CPH route from easyjet at MAN so that'll drive prices down.

:crazy:

It's really hard to tell xboy999. The only people who know are the ones on the inside at SAS and possibly a few at LBA. Be sure as the first flights arrive we'll find out loads on here. Servisair (Swissport) at LBA send out a daily flight schedule to all service providers which includes departing pax figures.

:crazy:

Given that SAS are advertising flights from £92 from LBA, the high ticket prices would surely suggest that bookings are quite good, since prices tend to increase as seats fill up. I am sure SAS will price the flights to ensure they sell sufficiently to make the route viable and profitable, which given the lack of competition at LBA is certain to mean higher prices than over at MAN. That would also explain the even higher prices from HUY (despite the shorter flying time), where travelling time to an alternative airport (MAN) is more than twice that from the LBA catchment area. If they can charge more and still put bums on seats, they will. I suspect also that they are pricing more for the Danish market than the UK market, and I believe that the standard of living in Denmark is high, with greater disposable income. Certainly the Danes are their main target with this route as they expect far more Danes to come to Yorkshire than Yorkshire folk going to Denmark.

I understand that SAS have travel agent agreements on both ends for the new Leeds/Bradford - Copenhagen route. Scandinavian pax coming to Yorkshire on a Friday night and going back home Monday evening whilst its hoped Yorkshire folk can be tempted into having weekend away using this direct service.
Hence the pricing structure and why the schedule is more leisure originated compared to been business friendly, even though connections can be made!

HUY SAS/Copenhagen flights terminate early April...

Does this bode well for the LBA/Copenhagen flights starting shortly?

It's not a good sign but the conurbations of Leeds and Bradford should prove significantly more fruitful given the right marketing. The airport is advertising the route throughout the terminal in busy areas and on the airports website. Lets hope LBA has more success than our Humberside counterparts.

Only suspended according to other forums the Humberside Copenhagen operation will restart later in the year.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
