I could be wrong but is this the largest schedule ever offered by Wizz, during a winter season at least, if not Summer?

This is certainly the first time Wizz has offered 7 destinations from BHX. The Winter Peak capacity is below ...(thought I've guessed the aircraft type..)

BUD (321) = 3x weekly = 1,380 seats
CLJ (320) = 2x weekly = 720 seats
KRK (321) = 3x weekly = 1,380 seats *NEW ROUTE*
OTP (321) = 3x weekly = 1,380 seats
POZ (320) = 2x weekly = 720 seats *NEW ROUTE*
WAW (321) = 3x weekly = 1,380 seats
WRO (320) = 2x weekly = 720 seats

TOTAL = 7x Destinations, 18x weekly departures, 36x ATMs, 7,680 seats weekly (Up 27% on W2018/19)

How could I forget

The route was originally cut as a result of the closure of the base at Poznan so it's good to see that Birmingham performed well enough for them to go to the trouble of bringing it back using an aircraft from elsewhere.

When the gap in the schedule appeared I honestly thought that it would be Vilnius after Ryanair dropped it. Hopefully one for the future as there must be so much potential for more from Wizz?

Wizz Air, the fastest growing airline in Europe and the leading low cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced a new service from Poznan to Kutaisi in Georgia as well as a relaunch of Poznan - Birmingham, UK and Gdansk - Molde, Norway routes. All routes will be operated with two flights per week. Wizz Air Announces New Routes From Birmingham Airport

Commencing in September, Wizz Air has announced two new routes from Birmingham Airport to Poland. The first route launching on 16th September is to Poznań, Poland’s fifth-largest city, with the second route launching on 17th September to Krakow - the seventh Wizz Air route to operate from Birmingham Airport.

Travellers to Poznań can expect an abundance of things to see and do including a choice of historical attractions and museums, renaissance-style architecture, as well as dining and nightlife options to suit a range of tastes. Those wishing to explore Krakow, a city known for its old-world ambiance and charm, can experience a range of exciting galleries, cafes, pubs and restaurants.



Tom Screen, Aviation Director at Birmingham Airport said: “It’s great news that Wizz Air will be operating to Poznań and Krakow - the launch of both routes will mean the airline will operate seven routes in total from Birmingham Airport. Providing our passengers with a range of destinations to connect with family and friends or find their next city break, is important to us and with these additional routes we are able to do just that.

“Wizz Air currently operates to Cluj-Napoca, Budapest, Bucharest, Warsaw, and Wroclaw – adding routes to both Poznań and Krakow in September. The new routes are a fantastic addition and we’re really looking forward to growing our offering with Wizz Air over the next few years here at Birmingham Airport.”

Tamara Vallois, Head of Marketing and Communications at Wizz Air said: “We are delighted to announce we will now operate a total of seven routes from Birmingham Airport. We launched our very first Wizz flight to Birmingham in 2015 and today, we offer seven low-fare routes to Poland, Romania and Hungary. Wizz Air, a Hungarian airline, has been a partner of Birmingham Airport since June 2015 with its inaugural route to Warsaw, quickly followed by Budapest. One-way fares to Poznań and Krakow start from £17.99.

Could be.

There are some interesting murmurs coming out of BHX at the moment and hopefully, if there is any change of direction, it will be a positive one. Nothing is going to happen overnight though and these things take time, lets just hope that they can start converting 'talks' into results.

Krakow is 3x weekly A321.

Poznan is 2x weekly A320 using a Wroclaw based aircraft. Incidentally, Wroclaw changes to Mon and Fri for 6 weeks in Sept to match up with the Poznan schedule.
