My sister in law was told yesterday her flight to Lanzarote in September cancelled and now been told has to fly from Man which she is adamant she isn’t going to do, 2 questions, are Tui cancelling flights due to sourcing aircraft and does anyone know where she stands re pre booked parking which she has paid in full? Thanks in advance

Looks like we are losing an aircraft from the 2nd week of September, the Tuesday Gerona & Lanzarote have gone, the Friday Chania, and the Saturday Mahon, Sunday Heraklion & Dalaman all finish the 2nd week of September, to name just a few! I believe the leased Smart Lynx A320 is the aircraft going, so TUI are not prepared to lease any more aircraft in. 737 Max issues effecting us now!

I don't think there will be many half full planes even in the second half of September.

The family of one member on here have been offered alternative flights from MAN so there is capacity available elsewhere.

Not a great situation but judging from other forums there are cancellations at other airports too.

A tough one for TUi I guess but not great for those who were looking forward to going away.

I miss those Britannia tails such an icon. I remember needing G-BYAY for ages ans finally getting it at BHX. First ever flight was a BY 732 in 1987 as a 7 year old to PMI. Hope TUI can get round the MAX problem

Ahh those Britannia 767s were amazing. Flew to Ibiza on one a couple of times. Majorca too if my memory serves me right. I can remember TEA on the return leg!

Jet2 are probably already full, so we will loose pax

Just looked at most of the flights where they both serve. Some days destinations, very few, require a day change +/- 1 day however most are served frequently enough. All have seats available and are not full.

Likewise TC is the same - there are seats available to the destinations.

Ryanair also to Spanish destinations have seats available.

So i shall, again, remain on the optimistic side of the situation. As i said above, so long as they are flying from BHX, it doesn't matter which colour the plane is. The only small downside is that there won't be as many passengers as first predicted - but BHX is only realistically loosing 360 pax a day for a period of 6 weeks. Which will help drive load factors on other carriers. All swings and roundabouts.

dotn think yours maths is quite right, based on a 189 seater 737, 4 flights a day lost, thats 4 x 189 = 756 seats a day!

CAA stats are done on departing passengers only.

Maximum an A320 can hold is 180 - fact. Unless it's a NEO. Smart Lynx have no Neo's.

They are removing 2 flights a day for a 6 week period (mid September to end of October). Some of the flights will of ended at the end of September was October sees a gradual reduction of frequency to the Med destinations.

Therefore the maths is correct - 360 passengers a day.

I'm not sure that is correct. I'm sure CAA counts all passengers, not just departing as this would not take into consideration one-way tickets or some transiting passengers.

2 flights a day at 189 pax per flight would therefore equate to 756 seat a day lost, or circa 31,000 seats over the 6 week period....

They do count both departing and arriving passengers.

1) CAA stats are done on both arriving and departing pax.

2) The A320ceo can hold 186 pax so you’re fact is incorrect. Easyjet has plenty of ceo versions in the 186 config, and I’m sure Vueling has some too. There will probably be others but these are 2 examples off the top of my head.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
